Reactions from Republicans were universal that Abbott had won the debate, and Davis had performed even more poorly than they had expected. Red State Women Executive Director Cari Christman said, "One thing is clear from tonights debate- Greg Abbott is ready to lead as the next Governor of Texas. While Wendy Davis failed to exude one ounce of substance in the way of policy or future plans for our state, Greg Abbott demonstrated genuine leadership and a plan to protect, empower and increase opportunity for the women of Texas. Tonight, Texans learned Wendy Davis rhetoric cant compete with Greg Abbotts record."
Republican consultant Matt Mackowiak said, Greg Abbott was the clear winner: he was calm, principled, positive, thoughtful and substantive. Wendy Davis was monotone, robotic, and on the attack, even resorting to break the rules halfway through. Wendy Davis needed a clear win and she didnt get it. It was a very good night for Greg Abbott.
President of the Texas Young Republicans Richard Morgan said, "If voters remember anything about Wendy Davis from her debate performance tonight, it was her stiff, robotic delivery or her shockingly distasteful performance when she spoke up over the moderator and refused to stop. It was a polar opposite to Abbott, who was relaxed and personable as he demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the issues.

Just got through watching this debate on CSPAN. The abortion barbie came across as a mean-spirited out of her league airhead, who seemed to start every answer with "well let tell you what Greg Abbott did........". Abbott was cool and collected and acted like an elder statesman and and never missed a chance to say that Texas was number one in job creation and if he was elected they would stay number one. He never attacked Davis, never called her by her name. Davis was full of spiteful remarks towards Davis. She looked really desparate and from what I saw the only way for Abbott to lose this race is to die before election day.

I read your very last remark that the only way for Abbott to lose is to die before election day. In reply, I say, yes, that is a figure of speech, but on the other hand, we are dealing with Abortion’s Devotees, Acolytes and Zealots, to whom life is less than precious. In other words, I hope Mr. Abbott’s home security system is fully installed and up to date in payments. Put nothing past this brand of DIMS, nothing!

Was Rosemary there? I hear she's a big Wendy fan.

I just hope we haven’t lost one of the best Attorney Generals in the country by Abbott running for Governor. He had a whole lot more power and ability to shape the outcome of issues as AG than he will have as Governor.

Did not see debate. Live in heavy blue state and have learned one thing about the left. Performance and record doesn't matter to their voters. Go through the list of congressmen and congresswoman with a D next to their name. No one with a brain or common logic would be inclined to vote for most of them, yet they still win. Don't forget the amount of money pumped in by the unions in the 2012 elections, something on the order of $600 million.
As I say, anyone with a scintilla of common sense wouldn't think of voting for what sits in congress and the White House today. But look at the results. Scary where we are headed. The President's approval ratings depending where you get your polling numbers are a dismal 37%. You would think that with his performance during the last five and one half years it would be a negative 10% and the Republicans should get a veto proof congress. Not so!!! Go Figure!!!

Is it possible to comment on Wendy Davis without breaking forum rules? It’s challenging, at the very least. She’s a stupid c ...... very challenging. Beyond my capabilities at this late hour. Others can probably do better.

You have said it all, in fact you said too much. This worthless excuse for a human does not deserve the few insults you gave her.

Davis is quite desperate. She trails in the polls. Greg Abbott has 2 to 3 times the amount of campaign funds for use in the final weeks of the campaign. Rather than showcase her own ideas (of which she has none), she only downplays and attacks Greg Abbott. She is a vile, loathsome harpy and the thought of watching her concession speech Election Night puts a smile on my face.
I will be voting and am advising anyone that will listen to vote for Greg Abbott.
