The risk of dying from a gunshot wound is twice as high for African Americans as it is for white Americans, according to a new study based on 11 years’ worth of data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Between 2000 and 2010, the rate of firearm-related fatalities in the U.S. was 9.05 per 100,000 people for whites and 18.51 per 100,000 people for blacks. When factoring in the 3.38 deaths per 100,000 people of other races, the country’s overall gun-related death rate was 10.21 per 100,000 Americans, researchers reported Thursday in the journal BMJ Open.
That racial discrepancy represents an improvement from the 1990s, the researchers noted: In 1993, gun fatalities were three times more common among blacks compared to whites.
Over the 11 years of the study, at least 335,609 Americans were killed by guns. (The CDC data almost certainly understates the true toll of gun violence, the researchers wrote.) These deaths include murders, suicides and accidental shootings.

Because Barack Obama is not actually an American Black person, he is 1/2 African, but the dominant half, the half of his family in which he was raised is 100% White Liberal/Leftist.
And those people couldn’t care less that American Blacks slaughter one another on a daily basis.
If the black community wishes to address this by outlawing black ownership of guns, I suppose I would consider that with an open mind.
As very few blacks are shot by whites, there really is no need for the majority population to be denied our gun rights. We are not the cause of the 2X higher black gunshot rates, other blacks are.
Blacks seem to have a hard time handling access to firearms. Maybe it’s racist to have one set of laws for everyone when clearly some groups have special issues. (/sarcasm)

Young black men commit 50% of the murders... 2 percent of the total population.
Most of these black people killed are poor. Washington DC is the most affluent and white part of the country. This fight between black and white, poor and rich should be taken up in the Senate.

Last time I checked I had about 12 guns but could not find a disease of any kind.
Why is that? Education or lack of? Family problems? Personal problems? Financial problems? Job problems? Or are there matters more basic?

Undisciplined young men turning to a life of crime and thuggery is a plague among inner city black communities. No wonder many end up getting shot.
Most people need a gun to be able to fend of attacks by violent young men - the strongest and most athletic of the population - especially if they are attacking as a group.
So people being shot is often a GOOD thing - an innocent person defending against an evil criminal aggressor.
That is one big thing that is deliberately concealed by lumping all deaths by gun together - hiding the good of guns. Another thing is that even when the shooter is the aggressor, the victim is often also a violent criminal, shot over a criminal dispute.
Some large percentage of deaths by gun should be trumpeted as a great success in fighting crime.
That’s 6% when you just subtract out the roughly half of blacks who are female. I think it would be a bit more accurate to exclude children (real children, not gangbanger teens) and elderly men from the total as they aren’t committing the murders. Doing that would probably reduce the percentage to 3 or perhaps 4 percent.
Any word on who’s pulling those triggers? How many of those racist gats were held sideways, gangsta-fashion?

No. Black violence kills blacks. Whatever the rate, it is not the fault of the guns. It is the fault of the sub-human behavior of the inner-city inhabitants.
