All sounds great until you realize you’ll give yourself the world global clout of France when your dreams come true.

I’m not interested in being the worlds nanny, I just want to live my life as a truly free man in a truly free country. It seems that you are more concerned with living in a powerful, global nanny state, rather than living as a free man.

From what I have written to you, if that’s all you came away with, you don’t have a very deep grasp of global affairs.

Someone will be the world’s hegemon. It will be the United States or it will be another nation or nations.

As I said, you will have the global impact of France. Perhaps you know the history of France.

Do you wish to be vulnerable like France?

You will be. You can’t simply lock yourself away in a one state closet, and live the free life you think you can.

As I pointed out to you, small nations can pack a punch and command an exceptional amount of respect. Britain and the Netherlands built mighty empires that lasted through to the late 20th Century, Switzerland remained untouched through two World Wars, and Israel makes the entire Middle East tremble in fear. Its all about confidence, skill, and proper diplomacy.

I want you to take special note how diplomacy with China and Russia is working these days.

If Texas pulls out of the nation, do you think the U. S. is going to leave it’s nuclear resources there for Texas to have?

That’s going to be your first big confrontation, and you won’t even have the nuclear codes.

Those nations you mentioned stayed strong in a different age. They also stayed relatively strong because the U. S. dominated the planet for decades. Russia was held in check until it cratered.

Wait until those nations don’t have a strong United States after it has withdrawn from the world stage.

When I say proper diplomacy, I’m talking about Mob diplomacy, they agree to our terms or else. Because Texan tax dollars paid in part for those nukes, I say Texas would be entitled to keep some, along with other military assets. These kinds of details are all a matter of negotiation, just like a divorce court.

Have you considered the idea that Washington may no longer be the top dog in this world? The Western power vacuum will eventually be picked up by somebody, and for all we know, Austin could start calling the shots. Although I would rather it not. Right now, it appears that Russia and China are firmly entrenched in the quagmires of the Old World. All that we have to do is keep them busy there. You worry too much, its just life!

It’s not going to be my call.

It’s going to be the call of the people in charge of the United States when Texas breaks away.

Providing Texas is deemed by them to have a right to break away, it’s going to be an interesting dynamic whether the United States is going to let it’s nukes go to a new separate nation.

None of this is settled business. I have no idea how it would all play out.

The Union will have to let any potential referendum happen, they cant promote democracy, freedom, and self-determination abroad without supporting these ideals at home. If I recall correctly, the Ukrainians inherited a number of Soviet bombs after the breakup. They then made the mistake of trading them away for promises of defense.

That’s a good argument. I don’t know if it holds up. I would rather lean your direction than not, but I don’t make these types of decisions for the nation.

As for the Ukraine, that’s an interesting take too. Again, is that the determination the leadership of the U. S. would take. I don’t know.

Thanks for asserting your point of view in this.
