So: if a handful of Russians who find themselves suddenly on the other side of a border from their cousins and brothers buy some military surplus jackets and maybe even a few trucks, that’s a Russian invasion of the Ukraine.

Suddenly? What are you talking about? Ethnic Russians were colonized in Ukraine decades and decades ago after the Russkies cleared out the local population. Not just Ukrainians, but German farmers, anybody, whom the regime considered a class enemy. It is common practice for the Russkies to ethnically cleanse an area and then colonize it with the children of gulag guards and other freaks.

But this is all an irrelevant fact. Ethnic Russians are a minority in East Ukraine, and, furthermore, separatists are even a minority within that minority. Consistent polls and the separatists themselves, complaining that the local population wasn't doing their part, have proven this.

As for going to the store and buying surplas jackets and maybe some trucks when they're riding on freaking tanks and shooting down airplanes with Buk launchers. My question is this: Are you a retard or just a Putinista?

But it’s cool if we put boots on the ground, and sell arms to the military junta

What boots on the ground? They're asking for arms, not soldiers. What military junta? The military "junta" is the one in Donetsk run by the Russkies. They are literally commandos and mercenaries trained in Russia. One of their generals has even come out and vowed to establish a Soviet-Style rule, complete with full socialism and executions of rule breakers. In Ukraine, it is the Ukrainian Rada which has been in charge since 2012 (new elections in October) led by a President in charge since July or August.

And just FYI, the Russkies not only sell weapons to our enemies, such as Syria and Iran, but they are even aiding Iran with their Nuclear program which threatens genocide against its neighbors. If they can do that, why can't we arm the Ukrainians who, at least, aren't Jihadis?

that held guns to the legislature as it “voted” to oust the democratically elected president

What people were there holding guns on the legislature, stupid? You don't even seem to know anything about the events that led up to Yanukovych fleeing the country. Tell me Russkie, do you think it is okay for a "President" to send goons into the streets to beat, kidnap and torture people, and then finally shoot them to death? Do you think that a people have no right to get a little upset about that going on?

because he didn’t want to surrender sovereignty to the European Union.

The association agreement is not about joining the EU. It's about removing trade restrictions and setting other standards. Israel has the same agreement with the EU. Many non-EU countries do. It is not direct membership into the EU.

That’s pretty damned deranged thinking in my book.

What's deranged is that you bothered to post on this thread when it is clear you don't know what you are talking about.

Thank you for your kind response. What would have happened to our country if France had said.. it’s not our problem?

Wow, your information is so completely wrong, it’s almost funny that you wonder if I’m the “retard.” Is that you, Joe Biden?

>> Ethnic Russians were colonized in Ukraine decades and decades ago after the Russkies cleared out the local population. <<

The Donbas (Donetsk and Luhansk) was nearly unpopulated 150 years ago, because it was bad land for farming; it was settled only after a SCOTTISH businessman recognized its potential for mining.

>> Ethnic Russians are a minority in East Ukraine, and, furthermore, separatists are even a minority within that minority. <<

Nearly all Ukrainians are ethnically Eastern Slavs, and the “Ukrainian” language is an offshoot of Russian that was heavily influenced by the Polish domination in Western and Central Ukraine. Eastern Ukraine remained Russian-language because the Poles never conquered it.

Today, the only distinction between “Russians” and “Ukrainians” is by way of language. Because the Ukrainian government has suppressed the Russian language, there are many Ukrainians who consider themselves Ukrainian speakers despite being more fluent in Russian and speaking Russian in their homes. Including these people, Russians are a slight MAJORITY in ALL of the UKRAINE. Those who speak primarily or only Russian in the Donbas are a 90%+ supermajority.

>> What boots on the ground? They’re asking for arms, not soldiers. <<

We already have US troops in the Ukraine, conducting “training exercises.”

>> As for going to the store and buying surplas jackets and maybe some trucks when they’re riding on freaking tanks and shooting down airplanes with Buk launchers. <<

I absolutely believe that Ukrainian separatists did shoot down the Malaysian jet... for one reason, they crowed about shooting down a military aircraft with a very similar profile at about the same exact time that the Malaysian jet crashed. But we also know that they had already seized a Ukrainian military base equipped with a Buk system, so we know where they got the Buk system to do it. And since that base had previously been staffed with Russian-language personnel, it doesn’t even prove that tyhey even had the help from vacationing Russians.

>> And just FYI, the Russkies not only sell weapons to our enemies, such as Syria <<

Yes. The U.S. Congress just voted to arm the very people who just promised to work hand-in-hand with Al Qaeda in Iraq (now rebranded “ISIS” since we created a power vacuum in Syria for them to occupy) to overthrow the Syrian government. Meanwhile the Russians are defending the hundreds of thousands of Christians in Syria who would have already been slaughtered had they not intervened. Sorry, but on this one, the US is fighting on the side of Islamofascism while Russia is protecting Christians.

>> ... and Iran <<

A lot less defensible, but calling Iran an ally of Russia because they’re getting Russian technological aid is the exact same thing as calling North Korea an ally of the United States: they’re doing the exact same thing in Iran that we’re doing in North Korea for the exact same reason. And it’s their own neighbor they’re dealing with.
