Long story short...he hated being an officer so he gave it up to be enlisted again. :)Good morning night owl ((HUGS))
I once worked for a Navy CDR who was promoted to Captain and he did not like it either. I wasn't working for him at the time, but I believe he decided to retire sooner because he didn't like the position; said it was so different.

Thanks, beachy! He was much happier not being an officer. He actually failed the exam to become Major on purpose so he could step back down.
Now he’s really happy....retired! LOL!
