My goodness what have you been smoking? Depending on the strain, the fatality rate is upwards of 50% to 90% and it’s a jolly nasty way to go.

I will concede, however, that the crew members may not be Africans, but if they were in an African port of call and enjoyed the local ladies, they could easily be infected. I will also concede that Africa’s primitive medical facilities are a big part of the problem.

There is fear that this version of Ebola may spread through the air because it has mutated a number of times.

It is in metro areas in Africa, we are living in a small world and the US has porous borders. The length of time before symptons are shown is anywhere between two and 25 days. Those who are “cured” are still contagious for up to 7 weeks.

It is a virus so most of the care is supportive not curative. And the more cases there are, the more opportunity for mutations, and it is suspected that the number of cases and exposures is fairly substantially underrreported.

I suspect it is not a matter of whether it will spread to the US and potentially become uncontrollable, but when. If you want to stiffen your spine a bit, read Hot Zone by Preston. By God’s grace, this Ebola strain wasn’t transmissable to humans, but you get a good idea of how careful people can become infected and/or spread the disease to others.

There’s more than a bit of hubris involved in allowing potential Ebola cases into the US in my opinion - including the doctor and medical worker.

"Three, even if they had Ebola, it can essentially be cured with minor medicines and Gatorade."

Wow. That's interesting. Do you have some supporting links, please?

Putting on my tinfoil hat here:
A national pandemic of Ebola would be just what the dictator wanna-be currently residing in the White House, would really like.
Round up all the “folks” for their own safety.

The ship should be diverted to Guantanamo bay. There are medical facilities there and it is fairly close by.

That is the usual method we have taken in the past. The Haitian AIDS ships and the Cuban TB ships all ended up there in heavy quarantine. Our current guests there all have to be dealt with in Hazmat suits and quarantine because of some of the diseases they have.

Did four tours there, one of them back in the 90s with the Cubans.

If that is the case why are sending 3,000 military personnel instead of truckloads of Gatorade...?

The US healthcare system goes into panic overdrive over the annual flu. And it has a what? less than 1% death rate? They can not stop it or even slow it down.

We have a virus that has a demonstrated 50+ % death rate with supportive care and it poses no risk to the US? The transmission rate is increasing, indicating it may be mutating into a more infectious strain. Even as it existed a month ago, it is uncontrollable by those that are experts on the disease and have actual hands on experience with it.

Over 399 trained health workers have come down with ebola, more than half are now dead. But it can’t happen here?

Look up the Spanish Flu and see what it did, this disease is worse, and there are no treatments other than supportive care, and no prevention other than absolute quarantine.

The civilized world will enact strict quarantine to control outbreaks of foot and mouth disease (including quarantining people suspected of just exposure), but the won’t take the same measures to protect people from ebola? Criminal negligence at the very least.

It’s only a matter of time.

Remember FBI agent Larry Grathwol who infiltrated Ayers Weather Underground discovered they planned to kill 25 million Americans. They’ve planted their puppet in the White House. Tick tock.

And in the past half a century that has passed .... that 25 million estimate for their plan has no doubt grown to more like 70-100 million Americans (the conservative 'belligerants' that insist on adhering to the US constitution and rule of law).

According to the first article you listed, the whole crew is likely to be hospitalized. Also, that article finally provided the name of the ship and the nation where it is registered (Liberia).

No doubt. I was just having fun with the intended meaning of “exceedingly low.”
