House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, characterized the Republican majority in his chamber as unreliable. "On any given day, 16 of my members decide they're going to go this way, and all the sudden I have nothing," he told a conference of the International Franchise Association in Washington.
"You might notice I have a few knuckleheads in my conference," he said Tuesday to the group's Public Affairs Conference, according to The Hill.
The problem has left him with a "paper majority," making it all the more important that the GOP broadens its House majority in the November elections, Boehner said.
A bigger majority would enable tighter Republican congressional oversight of the National Labor Relations Board, which he said was being politicized.
He added that "dealing with Democrats is one thing, dealing with the knuckleheads is another," according to the Hill.
The speaker has faced steady internal opposition from tea party-aligned Republicans, most recently in July when the leadership had to withdraw a vote on border control funding.
He has made no secret of his frustration with his own members chiefly on immigration of late. He also clashed with the tea party at the end of last year over the partial government shutdown, saying their actions were "politically damaging" and lacked credibility.

Pathetic.
No leadership...
Too bad if the GOP wins as they will be saddled with this A hole for another Congress.
That would be his hand picked idiots that will do whatever he says. The Knuckleheads are his chosen elite.
I know for certain, Kevin Brady (R) Texas, Montgomery co. voted both times to place Boehner into the speakership.
Yep he has been a major disappointment. Bring back Tom Delay!
No way will Mr. Boehner consider that HE is the problem. Naw! Can’t be that. He’s a fantastic leader. What an absolute shame that we haven’t sent him better followers.
“The problem has left him with a “paper majority,” making it all the more important that the GOP broadens its House majority in the November elections, Boehner said.”
Read: “all the more important that the Gutless Old Party broadens its House squish majority so we can crust the knuckleheads who believe in smaller government, personal responsibility, and freedom.”
Thus spake Bonehead.
Are you intimating that Bronco Bama is the knucklehead who’s thrown a saddle on Cryin’ John?
The drunk is the worst leader the reps have ever had.
That would be a great roll call list to rub in to all of their (those who voted FOR) noses. I know my sorry Pubbie Rep did.
IIRC, so did Michele Bachmann....but, I think it was after someone had dropped out :(
The knucklehead is House Speaker John Boehner. Like conservative US Rep Trey Growdy PLEASE God, let him win the House Speakers position.
What a loser.
“Like conservative US Rep Trey Growdy PLEASE God, let him win the House Speakers position.”
Either him or Louie Gohmert
“Bring back Tom Delay!”
Delay was a great Whip and leader. Of course he worked under a lucid Gingrich at the time too so it was a great partnership.
After Gingrich, when the gop had the majority, they had a string of dolts ending with the current one.
boner is such a flaccid, limp “leader”.
