Romney’s response there was typical and reprised his debate performance in his Senate run against Teddy Kennedy. In that campaign, Kennedy was fully in his drunken, doddering nitwit mode and ripe for the picking. In the debate, Romney was touching on the economic plight of failing cities in MA like New Bedford, etc. Kennedy roared back at him “How dare you? That’s Kennedy country!” It was a huge opening to blast back with “Yes, it’s Kennedy Country. Has been for 30 years. Look where it got them.” Instead, Romney makes a non sequitur hard left turn and starts in on how we must do more to “break the glass ceiling” for women. That is how Romney has always fared when his opponent bullies him; he runs for the nearest leftist shibboleth to make nice to them, like beaten cur. I’ve been observing him closely for decades.
