A good dog is one of the best things, especially an intelligent one.

Next have a gun which is easy to use handy by your bed. Be darn certain of your target before you shoot tho. Also keep a powerful light handy. I particularly like one I have which with the first click shines a bright clear light. Second click and it pulses another very bright beam. I think this might very well make an invader lose their train of thought.

Excellent advice that I follow.

Two dogs, one 9mm and a Fenix TK-75 flashlight.

My mother-in-law sleeps with her gun right beside the bed when her husband is out of town. She told us, “Anybody who comes into this house better yell “Mom” or it’s not going to go well for them.”

Came here to say near the same.

A flashlight, doesn’t have to be insanely bright just very focused, in order to take away their night vision. They’ll be stumbling around and unable to see any targets.

Easier to shoot the dumb bastard if they don’t duck.

<< A good dog is one of the best things, especially an intelligent one.>>

Sorry, I would never put my dogs in harms way :-(

I also recommend against the pulsing light. When I took one night shooting class another student had a pulsing light. It affected the vision of the shooter and everyone behind and next to the shooter. Heck it messed up everyone’s vision on the range. Not something I would want to use in my house.
