U.S. to Commit Up to 3,000 Troops to Fight Ebola in Africa

WASHINGTON — Under pressure to do more to confront the Ebola outbreak sweeping across West Africa, President Obama on Tuesday is to announce an expansion of military and medical resources to combat the spread of the deadly virus, administration officials said.

The president will go beyond the 25-bed portable hospital that Pentagon officials said they would establish in Liberia, one of the three West African countries ravaged by the disease, officials said. Mr. Obama will offer help to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia in the construction of as many as 17 Ebola treatment centers in the region, with about 1,700 treatment beds.

Senior administration officials said Monday night that the Department of Defense would open a joint command operation in Monrovia, Liberia, to coordinate the international effort to combat the disease. The military will also provide engineers to help construct the additional treatment facilities and will send enough people to train up to 500 health care workers a week to deal with the crisis.

So now our troops will get Ebola, and bring it back here to the States.

Crazy!

Obozo is now speaking from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta,GA.

He is outlining how horrible it is in West Afrika, thousands are infected, thousands have died...we are going to act fast...we have been planning to help for two months now...

FUNNY isn’t it? He’s speaking about taking actions that “only America” can do, because the entire world is looking to the USA to help...

Why didn’t he PLAN to fight ISIS in the same way...thousands have been murdered, thousands are threatened by muzzie terrorists running wild...

LOSER!!

Wow...

I just envisioned something preserved from heat and cold, possible the buried clothes of an infected soldier, could have been wasting away in the soil...only to be foolishly unearthed by my project. I have no idea if this has any scientific merit.

I also used to be stationed at Fort Riley, and my very first day, I was required to take a fitness test. I did it on Camp Funston. Running a loop around the remnants of past barracks (probably WWII era), gulping in air, and pondering the Spanish Flu.

I predict many AWOL soldiers. There’s nothing to protect them because they’re not going to spend their tour wearing an M95 and a moon suit.

I’ve never heard the horse connection before. I just assume that anyone handling livestock in that place and time would be ‘up close and personal’ with it. Manually slaughtering them, messing around with hoofs, whatever. So that interaction with livestock would give the opportunity for a man to animal to man type mutation. Just a terribly random mutation...spread across the globe by soldiers.

To make your fears worse, a virus is not a living organism. It is a string of DNA with a protein shell. It is active or inactive, viable or not viable. A virus can remain viable for thousands of years in the right conditions. It is in no way like bacteria. It does not need to nourish itself. It does not have to metabolize anything. It waits for a host, infects a cell and splits to create more viruses. It keeps doing this until the condition of the host is no longer within it’s range of protection to it’s protein shell, either in temperature, ph balance, or antibodies identify it and begin killing themselves to end the infection.

We are sending medical supplies. One of the primary functions of this mission is logistics for medical staff, equipment, and supplies.

That’s not to say Obama isn’t an idiot. Clearly, he is an idiot ... in sooooo many ways.

Holy cow!

Camp Funston has been re-built on at least twice since the epidemic. Once, in WWII and again in the current era. It now houses endless vehicle storage lots, and some maintenance buildings. In addition, a large railhead was built there in the last 20 years.

One has to wonder - maybe we should quit stirring the ground at Funston. Its hard to know the exact location of the original Camp Funston, so maybe its not precisely the same spot - but it might be. All the development I’ve described is near the railroad and river, where I would expect the original camp to be.

ZERO might be smarter than I thought. One way to get rid of Ebola. Shoot anyone who has it.

The CDC has Spanish Flu in storage. It has just about every known and unknown virus or bacterium that has killed someone in storage. They have people who’s job it is to collect puke, intestinal contents, blood, skin, hair, saliva, and serum samples from corpses or soon to be corpses. They then preserve the pathogen in correct storage medium for future analysis and possible antibody development for vaccines. Nice job huh?

"One way to get rid of Ebola. Shoot anyone who has it."

That is exactly why we've been force fed all these apocolyptic zombie movies and TV shows for the past decade. The zombie on the screen is today's zombie who has ebola.

Unfortunately shooting anyone with ebola only makes the spread worse. Look for futures trading in natural gas. The oven business should be booming very soon.

About WHO

Programmes and priority setting

Graphic of health terms
As a strand in the reform process WHO is working together with its Member States to set priorities for its work in order to focus its activities and deliver more effectively.

To date, Member States have reached consensus on a set of distinct categories of work for WHO (communicable diseases, noncommunicable diseases, promoting health through the life course, health systems, and preparedness, surveillance and response) and criteria that will guide the process of setting the Organization’s priorities. The new categories of work provide a broader organizing framework for WHO and will allow greater flexibility in allocating resources to priorities within these categories.

Establishing clear institutional priorities will ensure that WHO’s performance can be effectively and objectively measured, and that the Organization will be held accountable for its specific, expected deliverables. The categories and criteria for setting priorities will be used in the development of the Twelfth General Programme of Work that will provide the strategic overview for the Organization during the period spanning from 2014-2019, and subsequent biennial programme budgets.

Near as I can ascertain; all they do is collect a check and put THICK BS.
