Nice to see Churchill is finally making some headway to getting Roosevelt to wake up to the Soviet menace to post-war Eastern and Central Europe.

After reading some of the CGSC paper posted yesterday it appears that the Market-Garden map Homer posted yesterday from the American atlas was Ike's plan. Ike wanted to take the Ruhr and Saar before making the final push to Berlin. Monty, on the other hand, wanted Ike to continue his logistical priority and let him pivot and advance across the North German Plain straight to Berlin, leaving Patton in his dust.

We all knew the Monty/Ike thing was bumpy, but it becomes clear when reading all the inside stuff that Monty was insufferable. He resented Ike being in charge, and went out of his way to cause problems.

Remember, during the Bulge, he started up his crap about a single ground command. And this after he didn’t lift a finger to help Bastogne. Patton saved the day.

Ike should have run Monty’s ass off after Arnhem.
