Bush 2006: World War III Coming If 'Caliphate Capitol' Established In Iraq
Breitbart ^ | 9/15/14 | Breitbart TV

Posted on 09/15/2014 10:57:08 PM PDT by Nachum

On September 5, 2006, then-President George W. Bush gave a speech headlined "U.S. Foreign Policy and Terrorist Threats" to military officers about the "stages" of the third world war which would be begun by the establishment of a "caliphate" if America was to abandon the fight in Iraq.

He warned radical Islamic jihadist, at the time lead by Osama bin Laden, were planing to "expel Americans" and create a "caliphate capital' in Iraq.

He added that the terrorists have "made clear that the most important front in their struggle against America is Iraq."

Stupid people have apologized for supporting the war in Iraq, but none of them understood what Sadaam Husseins plans for WMD meant. Found or not, much went to Syria by truck convoys that six months before we attacked as was seen by satellite on Fox News.

This Administration lost the Iraq advantage and allowed the caliphate....intentionally by withdrawing troops.

Back when we had a real President. Not a perfect President, but a guy who knew what was going on and cared about it. And cared deeply about his country, above all. Seems so long ago.

“This Administration lost the Iraq advantage and allowed the caliphate....intentionally by withdrawing troops.”

You can trace he fall of our Iraq to the election of 2006 where the Democrats seized Congress and by 2008 those Democrats forced President Bush to sign that Status of Forces Agreement that called for the withdraw of US troops.

I’d say the fall of Iraq started when Bush II upset the balance of power that Bush I kept in place.

It was time to be replaced. The only mistake Bush 2 made was not promoting his agenda to the Citizens of America and let them understand what would happen if we didn’t prevail. The Press went mojo on Bush and he didn’t respond. The FKN press will be the downfall of this nation if we don’t get a grip on honesty and fair reporting. Too many idiots in this Nation that believes everything the MSM prints. The power of the Pen.

One of my tinfoil hat predictions: Obama maintains the open border policy which will allow Ebola-stricken refugees in from African countries infected with the disease.

The outbreak begins, rendering our already broken healthcare system(thanks to Obamacare) in shambles

As lawlessness and rioting increase in major population centers, which by now are breeding grounds for the massive plague, government and financial infrastructure collapse, Everyone is wiped out financially and physically by the Ebola virus, which has decimated over 95% of the American population. Only the rich and uber-rich are able to flee to uninfected, remote areas(like Hawaii).

After the bodies have all rotted in the streets and an 'all-clear' is sounded, the Islamic elite from the oil-rich Middle Eastern countries move in. The Caliphate is set up in what was America, with Obama assuming his rightful office as the 12th Imam.

Just thinking of how stable the area was back in 2003, in comparison to today. Too bad he wasn’t prophetic in 2003 instead.

To me, it didn't matter if we found WMDs in Iraq. We had been attacked by terrorists bred in the Middle East, and we knew that going into Afghanistan was not going to be enough - for many reasons. Just like treating only one room of your house for an infestation, the infestation just moves to an adjacent room.

We weren't in the position to go after Pakistan, even though they were one of those adjacent rooms, because they had gone nuclear, and were a nominal ally. Going after Iran at that point would have also been more complex. Nonetheless, we needed a bigger presence in the Middle East from which to stop the progression of radicalism.

Iraq was run by a man who had gassed his own people, and who had plotted to kill an American President. We knew that Hussein had made chemical weapons, wanted nuclear capability, and was refusing full UN inspections. We had already had to fight him when he invaded Kuwait. So it was a logical step, if you believed - as Bush and many others did - that the war on terrorism was a multiple step process that wasn't just about Afghanistan.

When Bush left office we controlled Iraq (with the exception of the occasional car bomb etc.), and there had been free elections in Afghanistan and Iraq. Bin Laden was living in a compound in Pakistan, and in many ways had been peripheralized and neutralized as a leader of Al Qaeda. Egypt was still secular, Syria had to consider that the US military was right next door in Iraq - and thus was not an ideal base of operations for the terrorists, Gaddafi was afraid enough of us to behave himself (thanks initially to Reagan), and our presence in the Middle East had been enough to embolden the growth of resistance to the state in Iran.

Now where are we?

By that date, Sept 6, 2006, Bush had already replaced Doug Feith and Paul Wolfowitz who held the numbers 2 & 3 jobs at the Defense Dept and that, depending on the outcome of the election, would probably have to replace Rumsfeld.

By that date Bush knew that the UN mandate would not be renewed and he would have to either begin the process of withdrawal or replace it with a SOFA.

By that date, Bush's man Maliki had won the election but the Sunni had boycotted the election and the Sunni-Shia civil war had already begun. Bush had no choice but to eventually enter the civil war on the side of the Shia because that was the only way to get a SOFA. Unfortunately, Maliki broke his promises to Bush and now the civil war has begun again, except the Sunni have aligned with ISIS.

By that date, The Iraq Study Group, co-chaired by Republican James Baker and dem Lee Hamilton) report had been completed but it could not be released until after the Nov elections. Two members of the Iraq Study Group, Bob Gates and Leon Panetta, would both serve as SecDef

Unfortunately Bush has no credibility on Iraq, regardless of how prescient he was about this issue in 2006. So quoting him on this topic is not likely to further the argument.

Bush clearly had advisors in his circle of National Security apparatus, the military, and diplomatic advisors who were prescient and could make judgements based on both current intel and the historic perspective of the growth of militant Islamists.

He chose to listen to them and outlined the coming problems to us with astonishing accuracy. Too bad his successor combined the worst of all leftist ideological assumptions such as American imperialism, ‘Cum by yar’ naiveté and radical Islamists as an unimportant minority of Muslims.

I agree with your summation completely.

Actually getting Bin Laden was not necessary, making him a Martyr....He had already allowed his youngest son (violent one) to become the head of Al Qaeda. The oldest one thinks more like zero.
