"How does the Federal government get the authority to make rules in schools which are the states responsibility??" Well when they started throwing prayer out of schools. When I was kid each morning we recited the Pledge of Allegiance AND the Lord's prayer...
Then the nutters made a stink and now not only do they not do the Lord's prayer but if you bring a Bible to school you get treated almost the same as if you brought a gun.
All of it because of Federal control(A.K.A. Federal money) of the education system.

I just knew this was coming next. LOL.

I just revisited this post and read the actual letter... and I am back to report what I believe the REAL problem is. The handwritten note preceding ghe form letter is addressed to "Ms. Brooks". PROBLEM IS RIGHT THERE. It should be addressed to a "Mrs. Somebody". There needs to be a father and a husband involved here that is willing to drive down to the school and go all "Uncle Buck" on these braindead queen bees... and then be sure to be on hand at every School Board and PTA meeting to reinforce exactly how it's gonna be.

The special gubmint cheese recipe no doubt includes all kinds of chemical treats to induce a sense of passivity and compliance in little Johnny and Kanisha. That chemical is soybeans. I have known for a while now that feeding little boys soy turns a majority of them into supine catamite Democrats by adulthood.

I would walk in there and let them know that my child will bring lunch from home any time I see fit, and there will be no discussion of the matter. And remind them that "I know where you live".

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

I want a *name* and the name of the school before I buy into this. I’ve been seeing a lot of false stories lately aimed at making conservatives look like idiots. IF this is true it is reprehensible and must not stand. But I want real names before I believe it.

Each parent has but one life to live. He or she can spend a significant part of that life loving and raising and nurturing the children OR spend a whole lot of the available time mud wrestling with the officials of P.S. 666 and a wide variety of other P.S. 666 parents. School board meetings? Phone brigades? Homeroom volunteering? Visiting the local edjamakshun commissar? Join or organize a PTO????? Run for school board? Be a squeaky wheel? Puhleeeeeze!!!
Home schooling seems a LOT simpler and a much more direct and effective effort to see to it that one's kids are as far ahead of those at P.S. 666 as you desire and/or by making education something that fascinates kids by broadening the experience far beyond the capacities of the drones running P.S. 666. If homeschooling is too intimidating, there are plenty of affordable private school alternatives.
In the gummint skewel version, the emphasis is on football, basketball, cheerleading, extracurricular entertainments of all sorts to keep the kids from being driven stark raving mad by the mind numbing and stultifying nature of gummint skeweling. Political correctness uber alles. Common Curse Curriculum. Don't you DARE mention God or morality. Etc.
In the private school version, you can choose the nature of the education and the curriculum offered by local schools. OTOH, too much emphasis on entertainment to mimic gummint skewels without the deviant curricula. You can even choose RELIGIOUS schools.
Home school and YOU are in complete control over curriculum with very few academic restrictions in many jurisdictions. Absolutely no time and effort wasted on useless edjamakashun bureaucrats who are convinced that Trotsky and Horace Mann and John Dewey and Walter Mondale's secular humanist dad knew better than you how to raise and educate YOUR kids. You can even decide what your kids might like for lunch without the interference of Moochelle or the Federal Department of (so-called) Education.

They want that Government money by forcing it. Flip-them, All Parents should send
lunches and not force their kids to eat Government sponsored junk.
And another thing, those parents voted for the School boards!
