the Rice situation and the Peterson situation are very different....

if we are to take him at his word, which I will for now, Peterson simply though his actions were good discipline, and he did not mean to harm his son...

did he go to far, too harsh, yes of course....

I'm torn on this situation because I think we need all fathers and especially black fathers to become a bit more involved with their kids including and especially discipline...

so I'm not going to pounce on the guy, at least not now....

I have to disagree. One laceration-That’s taking it a bit too far. If the photo’s I saw were legit, he was either beating the kid, or too out of control to see what he was doing.

BTW, I’m a firm believer in the judicious use of pain when raising children. We had a nifty little device called “The Rod.” It was a thin fiberglass rod with a nice soft foam grip. It always hurt them more than it hurt me, but never enough to do more than sting. None of our kids ever did stupid stuff like time out.
