Yes. I enjoy a good rant or a good pan more than most people, but I can’t stand sneering condescension. Whatever point this writer is trying to make should have been expressed in a more sober tone if he wants people to learn about it.
I agree, with this caveat - when I am debating someone, and they display colossal stupidity (usually in the form of saying, “so what your saying is....” then proceeding to say something completely irrelevant to the point I was making, but outrageous and far from true - with no honest basis for that conclusion), in those cases I feel perfectly OK with sneering condescension to the full measure of my ability.
When folks lie, I might call them on it. But if they lie about me, or what I’ve said or what I think - I will beat them to a bloody intellectual pulp.
All that said, this was certainly not the case here - in fact, it is this writer who twisted Cruz’s words much as I described.
