Young people at this age are trying very hard to find meaning and add depth to their lives... rebelling when they’re ridiculed. On one end of the spectrum you have kids listening to The Doors and committing vandalism. On the other end... jihadist. I guess the spectrum is bigger than I thought.
This is one of the biggest problems the West has — sympathy and this fantasy that every person counts and should be helped. Westerners see two nice looking nice girls that could be their daughters and then start agitating to have the government “DO SOMETHING” to get them released or brought home so they can be safe in bed eating cookies and drinking milk.
The reality is that kids do stupid things and the result can be deadly or result in them being in horrible situations that don’t have a Fairy Tale ending. These girls probably will be beaten, raped or killed, or reduced to effective slave status. And they will live that way for a long time until they either escape or die. And there is no guaranty that they will escape. That is the brutal reality of life and the West cannot stop it from happening. Indeed, the West can’t even stop it from happening to innocent kids. We can’t save the World.
