Brendan Tevlin: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know
HEAVY.com ^ | 6/27/14 | Matthew Guariglia

A 19-year-old college student murdered in New Jersey has been labeled a “martyr” after his alleged killer admitted to committing the crime to avenge the death of Muslims in the Middle East.

The death of Brendan Tevlin has been held up as a wakeup call that “domestic terrorism is already here.”

On June 25 police found Tevlin’s body in a parked SUV in West Orange, New Jersey. He had been shot dead, and authorities were puzzled about who would kill a beloved teenager called by friends and acquaintances a “model citizen.”

On July 18 police in West Orange, New Jersey, arrested Ali Muhammad Brown, 29, who has since confessed to Tevlin’s murder and three others in Washington State, saying all were committed in response to U.S. military action in the Islamic world.

Here is what you need to know:

1. Tevlin Was Ambushed & Shot 8 Times

Sometime around midnight on the morning of July 25, Tevlin was shot while sitting in the driver’s seat of an SUV while waiting at a stoplight in West Orange.

The windows on both the driver and passenger’s side were shattered. His body was found in the car at around 1:30 a.m.

He had been shot eight times.

At around 11:30 p.m., Tevlin had left a friends house where he was playing video games. WTVR reports that around that time he also texted his mother, telling her he was headed home.

The car was found around a mile away from Seton Hall prep, where he graduated high school.

2. No One Could Imagine Why Someone Would Murder Him

At the time, CBS 6 cited investigators as saying they believed Tevlin was specifically targeted by his killer.

No one, friends or family, could imagine a motive for the brutal murder of the beloved teen. In the news report above, they express their confusion and disbelief.

3. Tevlin Was a Model Student & Citizen

Tevlin, born and raised in Livingston, New Jersey, was home in the quiet suburb after finishing his freshman year at University of Richmond.

He graduated from Seton Hall prep, where he was a very popular and well-liked student. Speaking to NBC, his former calculus teacher said that he “was an ‘A’ student, very conscientious.”

He loved to surf, play lacrosse, and was a talented bagpipe musician.

According to his obituary, at Seton Hall Tevlin was …

… a member of the National Honor Society, Lacrosse Team, Ambassador’s Club, Knights of Setonia and the Gaelic Club, where he served as president. He also served on the Student Council and was a member of the Math Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society and recipient of the Monsignor Tuohy Award for having achieved a GPA of over 4.0 for all four years at Seton Hall. He was also a Eucharistic minister at Seton Hall Prep.

Tevlin left behind his parents, Michael and Allison Tevlin, and siblings, Michaela, Brian and Sean.

4. The Killer Said Tevlin Was Slain to Avenge American Military Action

On July 18 police arrested Ali Muhammad Brown for committing a robbery in West Orange. He was later implicated in Tevlin’s murder and three murders in Washington State.

During police interviews, Brown said he had targeted all his victims in retaliation for the lives of Muslims killed by Americans overseas.

5. A Radio Host Made Tevlin’s Death a Battle Cry Against Domestic Terrorism

Todd Pettengill, a former WWE announcer and now a morning host with WPLJ radio in New Jersey, is outraged that the media has largely ignored the terrorism angle in Tevlin’s story.

On September 10, the eve of the 9/11 anniversary, Pettengill delivered an eight-minute on-air monologue calling attention to Tevlin’s case. Listen to Pettengill’s thoughts above.

His call to action resulted in Fox News and other outlets devoting segments to Tevlin and Pettengill’s crusade. On September 12, the hashtag “#BrendanTevlin” trended on Twitter.

There are other things that need to be pointed out about this horrible killing of an innocent American.

1. He was unarmed, defenseless and killed just because he was American.

2. The black Muslim jihadi calling himself Ali Muhammed has warrants for three other killings in Washington State where he is also wanted for defrauding banks to raise money for Islamic jihad.

3. The media has tried to suppress this story because Ali is Muslim and black - both protected categories in the Obama/Holder admin and DOJ.

4. This is not an isolated incident. Domestic terror is growing with the passive aid of our own President and Attorney General.

You didn’t mention that the killer, Ali Mohammed Brown, served time for bank fraud and funding terrorism in WA State and killed three men in WA as retribution for the killing of Muslims in the Middle East, but he is only charged with ordinary murder, not terrorism.

He was part of a radical Muslim group in Seattle back in 2004, who were aiding terrorist activities. He could have been part of the group that was running a terrorist training camp, but I haven’t checked that out yet.

Court documents detailing the charges in the April killing, made public on Wednesday, include statements from Brown indicating that he carried out the killings as “vengeance” for the loss of innocent lives killed as a result of American military operations in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and other parts of the Islamic world.

“All these lives are taken every single day by America, by this government. So a life for a life,” he said, according to the documents.

All of these FBI documents that state that Militia and Tea Party members are potential terrorist but here a Muslim admits from his own mouth that he is committing murder to avenge his Muslim brothers and Obama will not admit that Islam breeds terrorist.

Does the killer look like he could be Obama’s son?

Brown, described as a transient who spent a short time living in East Orange as a child, has a criminal background that includes a stint in federal prison for bank fraud and a conviction for communication with a minor for immoral purposes, which required him to register as a sex offender.

So a possible link between being Muslim and being a pedophile.

Sept. 3, 2003 update: The Washington Post reports today that Malvo told a Maryland police officer, Cpl. Wayne Davis, that "one reason for the shootings was that white people had tried to harm Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam."

So a possible link between being Muslim and being a pedophile.

Of course this treatment of domestic terrorist is nothing new and was also practiced in the Bush administration.

Everyone should remember the DC snipers Allen Muhammad and Lee Malvo, both made statements that linked them to Islamic terrorism but the MSM and government officials never would call them what they are/were.

You’re going to love this one, Brown killed two GAYS in Seattle. He contacted them on-line or something and arranged to meet them. The three left together and he killed them, execution style.

But it is neither a hate crime or terrorism.

Nah, the victim was a white, privileged lacrosse player . . . the perfect trifecta of the anti-Holder.

I guess that Holder is no longer interested in having that gutsy discussion about race . . .

Actually they were white males between the age of 18 an 35.

Brown declared that he committed the murders for retribution for US actions and killing of Muslims in the Middle East.

The real reason that they refuse to call this terrorism is because he was targeting homosexuals. They don’t like it mentioned that Islam thinks that murdering homosexuals is ok.

Retribution for harming Louis Farrakhan is not the same as declaring the killings to be righteous under Islam.
