A former Virginia Tech English professor who lost a job offer from the University of Illinois over dozens of sometimes-profane Twitter messages that critics deemed anti-Semitic demanded Tuesday that he be given the position and threatened to take legal action otherwise.
Attorneys for Steven Salaita said during a news conference at a YMCA on the Urbana-Champaign campus that they believe the universitys Board of Trustees will make a decision on his hiring during a meeting scheduled for Thursday. If he isnt given the job, they said theyll go to court to try to get an injunction to force the university to hire him.

The guy has no tenure, and thus no rights by state law...end of the story. He may think he can bluff his way through this, but if they accept this argument, it opens up a huge door for all kinds of future issues.
