Obama Strategy In Iraq, Syria Hinges On Long Shots

By PATRICK J. MCDONNELL

As the United States pivots back onto a war footing in the Middle East, President Obama's strategy is rooted in at least three basic assumptions, all of them highly questionable.

In his prime-time speech Wednesday, Obama envisioned the emergence of a newly unified Iraqi government, an effective Iraqi fighting force and a reenergized, U.S.-backed "moderate" rebel front in Syria. Along with U.S. training and airstrikes, and help from international allies, those three factors would spell defeat for Islamic State militants who have made deep inroads in both Syria and Iraq.

All three goals seem long shots in a region where U.S. aims have often foundered amid harsh and intractable realities.

If the LA Times writers think Obama's plan is unlikely to succeed, we are now all screwed since the community organizer "way in over his head" guy sleep walked his way to compromising national security. Now he's back to thinking a speech substitutes for policy.

Back the Yahzidi and any Christian minorities. They will be motivated and resolute. No assists to any Muslim, Shia or Sunni. It’s time to think ‘Crusade X’.

Obama’s strategy for Iraq must be just as unfathomable to ISIS as to liberal writers because ISIS leaders can never be certain obama is not on their side.

Obama and ISIS are on the same side. ISIS has brought more negative attention than desirable, so will receive a spanking, nothing more.

Which means this: there is no strategy. None. Just words.

Just words.

“Liberal Media Writers Doubt Obama’s Plan!”.........

When the media begins to doubt “The Won”, things are real bad.

Holy Wars are never something the U.S. should ever get into but ISIS is definitely a group that needs eradicating and the sooner the better. Obama's plan is at least SOMETHING for a starter. I see more to come as success of ever defeating ISIS remains doubtful.
