Agreed. How can you call yourself a Christian, yet not support Israel?

As recently as a hundred years ago, Jewish people were discriminated against quite regularly in most of the Christian world. So I’m not surprised. - lacrew
People who intentionally separate themselves from us naturally tend to provoke an equivalent reaction from us. And vice versa.

It seems impossible that slavery could have existed on a huge scale in America - but it did, and it was run by people who sincerely thought of themselves as Christians. Stonewall Jackson owned one slave - whom he bought reluctantly, at the behest of the slave himself. He also got into a serious disagreement with a friend over the fact that Jackson taught a Sunday School for slaves. And he died talking about heaven.

And outright abolition of slavery was not a mainstream political position even in the North at the start of the Civil War, particularly in light of the fact that everyone recognized that the South had a tiger by the tail in that respect.

Don’t assume that every moral position you hold will seem the same to your great grandchildren as it does to you. If history is any guide, some things might seem quite different in retrospect.
