Guaranteed to be used by schoolkids to lock out the teacher 10,000 more than it will ever be used to lock out an active shooter.

BTW: a 9mm will go right through a school door and a 30/30 will go through like it isn’t even there.

The new official plan is called ALICE, which is based on the miserable failure of hide in place at Virginia Tech. If the intruder is a distance from you, you evacuate. If he is next door, you want to keep him from coming into your room. Of course you lock the door. But if the door has a window (and most schoolroom doors do) you want him to be unable to open it even if he shoots through the glass and tries to unlock it. The goal is to be able to keep the door closed and keep the bad guy out. Because classroom doors open out, a simple barricade won’t help. A length of rope tied to the doorknob and held by several strong people off to the side might do it or several turns of rope around the arms of the door closing mechanism.

The last resort—when the bad guy has still managed to get in in spite of your best efforts, is to throw stuff, including oneself, at him. Because these event have shown us that he will kill as many as he can until he is stopped.

Thought 2.

Has any fire Marshall weighed in on restricting egress?

What happens when the fiends turn to $10 worth of gas instead of killing mom and stealing $2,000 worth of hardware to do their evil?

Sounds good, if the intention is to delay the Shooter from getting in giving the Teacher enough Time to get her Glock out of her purse.

Should I assume the Classroom Doors and Walls are Armor Plated too?

Must be a coincidence that it’s shaped like a Dunce Cap.

Of course, being a Old Guy means I know what a Dunce Cap was.

This is kind of reminiscent of the ‘genius’ that figured out bullet proofing book bags.

Now I am sure it is/would have been a good seller but wouldn’t putting books in the bag serve the same purpose?

I would also prefer the teacher have a gun, close combat training, and mandatory range time but until that becomes possible, we just offered to buy the teacher one of these.

ps - Are you by chance also on Hwy 67?

I work for an architect. We use the office lock function cylidrical locksets in stead of the classroom function on our classroom doors. Any body with a brain can lock the door from inside the classroom even if the teacher isnt present. We also use laminated glass in the view light. This sleeve reeks of code violations.

I wonder what that is. It almost looks like an M1 Carbine.

You got it. That is known as the “Oh s@@t!” plan. It seems to be the only plan the lefty administrators are okay with. I bet, however, the administrators are worried that if the shooter is injured by a flying book, the school may face a lawsuit. So even that plan may be shelved, literally.

An egress door can have only one action to open the door. Removing the sleeve would be a second action.
