Back in 1992 I watched an Aussie Captain drink a British Army Company under the table. He was the last man standing and ready for more.

The Brits can put away some serious booze, so I was amazed.

And this guy wasn’t even SAS.

I had the opposite problem. I rarely drink and when I do I have one or two at most. Most of the time. But I was a young Australian naval officer visiting San Francisco and was offered repeated hospitality by a group of American officers who found the idea of an Australian sailor who didn’t drink like a fish difficult to believe. I don’t really remember most of that night...
