For the terrorist group known as the Islamic State, Syria and Iraq were a good place to start their campaign, but in order to survive and prosper it knew from the outset that it had no choice but to set its sights on the ultimate prize: the oil fields of Saudi Arabia.
It is in that direction that the battle for control of the worlds largest oil fields is currently heading.
Islamic State -- which has its origins in al-Qaeda knows fully well that in order to sustain itself as a viable and lasting religious, political, economic and military entity in the region, it has to follow the same objectives established by al-Qaeda when Osama bin Laden broke off his relations with the Saudi monarchy and vowed to bring down the House of Saud.
Bin Ladens ire at the Saudi monarchy stemmed from the fact that Saudi King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud invited the American military to use Saudi Arabia as a staging area to build up forces to take on the then Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein after Iraqi troops occupied Kuwait in August of 1990. Bin Laden objected to the presence of infidels in the land of the two holy mosques, and asked the king to allow his outfit to tackle Saddam Husseins troops.
Similarly, IS knows that it will only feel secure once Saudi Arabia is part of the Caliphate, and its oil fields are under IS control -- which is why the group has two logical next steps.
First, to capture and secure the most important country in the Muslim world: Saudi Arabia.

King Abdullah? I didn't vote for him!!!
Extra! Extra!! Read All About It!!! Opecker Princes are in a tizzy...
Bingo, I agree - isis must have Mecca, Medina and Jersulem. That is more important to them in the long term. They wish to hasten their “end-times” and bring their demon god to power.
[ ISIS knocking off the Saudis could be a blessing in disguise. ]
It would be just desserts for them to hack the heads off the people who directly/indirectly funded the 9/11attacks.
However it would give more money to ISIS in the end....
There is not really that much oil left in Saudi Arabia but I would suspect they are as much interested in the religious centers.
As I see it, we should never have gone to Kuwait in 1991.
But since we did, we shoulda made it worth our while and appropriated the oil fields.
True...LOL
In order for them to cement the “caliphate” they have
to fulfill the goals of Islam, control of the holy
cities, the restoration of al andalus, the return of
the Levant to complete Islamic control
and the imposition of Sharia law are all
symbols of that success, without those
they are just fanatic crazies.
With them there is nothing stopping the forming
of the Islamic superstate, as all Islam will
then accept their authority.
Doesn’t Saudi Arabia need to load up on cash tofund desalination plants?
Not if is/isis/alkaida take over.
It would win him nearly universal Democrat support to pursue another War for Oil.
How truly grand is the irony?
This “infidel” WILL NOT bow to a SATANIC RELIGION.
Nuke mecca and medina.
Repeatedly.
If they get Saudi’s oil wells, how long do you think it would be before China and Europe got tired of being strongarmed and overthrew them? Considering that the US is moving toward energy independence, it is becoming less and less of a concern to me what band of unwashed goat-sodomizers controls the Mideast’s oil. The sooner they kill each other off, the sooner we can visit civilization on the region.
We have few alternatives, submit, exterminate, or
destroy the pillars of their faith. I would try the
last first...then the second, there are no acceptable
third choices.
Good post. Love her or hate her, Ann Barnhardt mentioned the secession movements in her latest post and had this to say:
4. In my Economics YouTube presentation, I discussed the secession movements in Scotland (from the UK), Catalonia (from Spain), and Venice (from Italy). Scotland is now polling at 51% with momentum in favor of secession, with the referendum on September 18th. Here is my take on this. Scotland is a grotesque welfare piglet, suckling off of the x-rays being emitted by the financial black hole of doom that is London. So, if Scotland secedes, Scotland will fail and collapse, because that is what welfare states do. BUT, in the interstitial euphoric period, the Scottish secession, if it happens, will provide massive encouragement and momentum for the Catalonian and Venetian movements. Scotland could be the spark that sets off a chain of sovereign delinkages. I advocate the return of Italy into its natural three or four separate states with separate, competing currencies! Only this will allow the south of Italy to ever get on its feet oh, and also a heckuva lot of mafiosi will have to be publicly executed, too. The Italian Republic is a purely synthetic fiction. But what is very troubling is the Catalonian independence movement in Spain. Catalonia is the stronghold of the resurgent Andalusian branch of the New Caliphate. An independent Catalonia would effectively be the first foothold of the Caliphate on the European continent.”
I tend to agree the oil would only be a means to an ends, or a bonus, in their goal of the new Caliphate. The ‘royal family’ has good reason to be fearful. I’m still trying to figure out just how big a player Ergoden is in this and how much sway he ultimately has over Turkey, and beyond. The SS guys tasked with protecting Barry either are completely ignorant of what is going on in those recent meetings or true believers as well.
Anyway, I think you nailed it.
That’s pretty much what I was thinking. I know of no other religion or ideology that is as tied up with a particular place as mohammedanism is with mecca and medina. Destroy them and see what happens.
