Kill the head??? WHAT head? Who’s the head? When you have millions of fanatics dying to be martyrs for Allah, who exactly is the head? Did it work with the Taliban? Did it work with Al Qaeda? We can wipe out ISIS, and guess what... another band of crazies just as bad will rise from the ashes.
Here’s the deal. This fight isn’t against ISIS. Its against Islam.
You’r so right. That’s why a full debate is required. It could easily reveal the compelling need to go after ISIS and Iran NOW AND SIMULTANEOUSLY, just as we went after Germany and Japan in WW II. It would also reveal how weak our intel is about the “moderate Muslims” the Mahdi wants to use as our allies.

That’s exact;y why we should get rid of ISIS and Iran simultaneously and leave Assad in place. Without Iran to support him, he’ll be no real threat the the US and will have a powerful incentive to repress his own radical Mudslimes, making him a somewhat useful asset. All we can hope for in the Mideast is despots who tend to identify more with us then our enemies. There is no hope for any kind of real democracy and trying to achieve it is a self destructive fool’s errand.

BS says that if ISIS is destroyed, then forces will arise that are nearly as evil as ISIS itself. In other words, he’s attempting to imply that if ISIS is NOT destroyed, then such forces will not arise.

Apart from the logical fallacy, anyone who has been following the Middle East since the hijackings began back in the 60s, say, knows that successive Islamist groups have been getting more insane, more fanatical, more evil, every generation. In fact, you could argue that it was Israel’s (and America’s) playing footsie with Yassir Arafat for decades instead of snuffing him out with extreme prejudice the moment he raised his ugly head, that has led to our current predicament.
We have to snuff them out now, or as soon as possible, because the trend is clear: They are getting more insane every year, trying to consolidate their forces, their resources - they’re trying to build a caliphate and enslave the rest of the world. We have to destroy them. We have no choice. It’s just the way of the world. You have to keep your enemies down, or you will be put down.

The solution is in turn to kill off ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Boca Haram, and every other terrorist group that murders even one innocent American or commits genocide. Eventually, a group will come to power that likes ruling enough to play within the rules we set.
It is sobering that these circumstances force us to contemplate variations on a theme of the extermination of some large portion if not all of that 20% of the global population associated with Islam.
Of course no elected government in the west would contemplate anything remotely like that. Some political theorists might. Some leaders of less accountable governments might, given an incentive. At the moment, the west has a greater incentive than Russia or China to be thinking along these lines.
Nor, I would argue, should we succumb to this. Any such development would have to take place either at a late stage of confrontation where there was imminent danger to all, or through the agencies of God acting directly.
What we can do is to demand that every Islamic national government would adhere to minimum standards or face the most severe sanctions that would amount to a total isolation from the world community and our right to go in and extract their resources. Where they might fight back, then eliminate any resistance.
We have put up with half measures and broken promises, lies and bad behavior on an epic scale for about fifty years now, not to mention situations in the more distant past.
Enough is enough. The non-Islamic world community should get together and issue ultimatums to the Islamic world. Force them to decide, passive aggressive support of the gradual approach to world domination, or a clear repudiation of that followed by agreements to act in predictable and civilized ways, as some Islamic states are already able to do (not really that many, truth be told).
The chances of this president adopting such a leadership position are zero. The chances of any given Democrat replacement doing so are close to zero.
Republican contenders would range from near zero to low double digits on this scale. If you want to elect an absolute alien non-qualifier who would take this approach, then I am doing very little between 2017 and 2024.
I would enjoy putting the screws to global Islam and so would you. Let’s roll.
