ROCHESTER, Mich. (WJBK) - Lieutenant colonel Sherwood Baker was just a father trying to help his daughter find her way at her new high school.

Sherwood who has served in the Army for 24 years was told by Rochester Adams high school security that if he wanted to get into the high school with his daughter he was going to have to go home and change his clothes.

Baker's wife Rachel Ferhadson says, "before he was allowed in, the security guard stopped him and said sorry you're not allowed in the school. Security told him men and women in uniform weren't allowed because it may offend another student."

They should still be made to feel heavily embarrassed.

I wonder...if someone came in with a Che Guevara shirt, would he be sent home? Probably not, because what offends conservatives doesn't matter.

I am a little confused. When I was in the Army, we were instructed not to wear our BDUs (in the pic the LTC has on his BDUs (battle dress uniform) in the civilian population because this is not a police state, it frightens the civilians. Change your clothes and wear civilian clothes if you are going to WalMart, the grocery store etc.

This LTC is apparently National Guard, so he should know the rules. If he has on the regular uniform (dark green slacks, shiny black shoes, pale green dress shirt) he can go anywhere.

So, whether the security guard was prejudiced or whether the security guard knew the LTC is not to be parading around in BDUs in the civilian population (which, I frankly doubt was the security guard’s motivation), surely the LTC That said, maybe the rules have changed and I do see people in

Given the apology/explanation from the school, and the fact security is sub-contracted out, my gut feeling is this came from a leftie security guard on his/her own.

No way some low level security guard is going to make that call on his own.

You're probably right. If I had to bet, I'd bet the guard was acting on instructions from a vice-principal, or from the principal.

I have seen lots of Soldiers and Airmen wearing their BDUs in public. I don’t think USAF and US Army are even issued class A uniforms anymore.
I have seen young men fresh out of Boot Camp who wore their BDUs proudly. And even recruiters wear their BDUs. So maybe they should walk around wearing their birthday suits and dog tags and combat boots.

It’s immaturity; a refusal to grow up and leave university behind.

I guess it came from the security guard’s union.

THIS is why you start at the bottom implementing change by electing the proper people for School Board.

Yesterday morning, a friend passed on the Conservatism Is Calling video, which was uploaded to Youtube in late August, and according to my buddy, has been referenced to by Mark Levin on his radio program.

In the video it runs through all the levels of government that conservatives need to take action on to elect conservative candidates to to implement recovery of the principles of the Founders.

The list is:Note the RINOS they show subdued in the background for the first 2 at 6:51):

President
Vice-President
Senator
Representative
Governor
State Senate
State Assembly
Mayor
Board of Supervisors
City Council
Sheriff
School Board
I believe they have the list backwards... start with electing the right dogcatcher and work up from there.

ACU is allowed if in transit to/from a place of duty where ACU is the uniform of the day.
For example an office.
You can perform everyday local tasks, store, school, gas, etc to and from work in the uniform.
Bars not allowed.
No longer allowed for commercial air or bus travel.

Many NG soldiers and airmen are full time. Don’t assume NG means he’s only on duty one weekend a month.

Sorry, my computer got a mind of its own while I was typing.

Well, that is a good question, are they issued Class As anymore? I frankly am sick of seeing BDUs in the general population. It is as though we are supposed to get used to seeing them.

ASU, army service uniform.
And it is way uncomfortable.
Plus, it isn’t a “work” uniform, you don’t have guys wearing it like the Class B’s from ages past.

I know there are full time Guard and Reserve. I guess the rules have changed if you can go to the store and school.

What is the acronym ACU? It was BDU’s back in the day.

Too late for that. Either fight them mercilessly or die later.

Battle Dress Uniform has been supplanted, with the Army Combat Uniform.
Class A’s replaced with Army Service Uniform.
And there is no “office” version of it like they had with the “Class B” uniform.
So brass end up wearing the same uniform as the enlisted while at work in the office.
