It’s the business of the NFL because R. Rice was a Ravens players, and the footage of his criminal actions could affect the league as well as the team negatively, thus affecting their bottom line.

And there's the irony. Is the NFL going to stop recruiting men with violent or criminal behavior in their backgrounds? Does the NFL really want to totally tame their players? Might make for a less exciting game.

I'm all for "innocent until proven guilty". Under this standard, Michael Vick would not be playing football. But Rice would, at least until he's charged with something.
