The unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, is distressing, in part, because it appears that systemic violence against blacks continues in as blatant a fashion as it did 50 years ago at the height of the civil rights movement and the dark zenith of apartheid.

Prof. Chakravarti reveals his abject ignorance in the very first sentence.

Clearly, the man must've spent "the height of the civil rights movement and the dark zenith of apartheid" as a child in Hyderabad.

I’ll bet even fifty years ago, blacks were assaulting whites far more than whites were assaulting blacks. Black crime has been a problem in all parts of the country since they started migrating out of the south.
