“In that case, MOST Conservatives DO NOT participate in the primaries.”

Conservatives participate plenty. But they don’t have the resources that the GOPe has.

Establishment candidates can outspend their conservative rivals and pretend to be conservative themselves. And the GOPe often uses negative campaigning against conservatives that is every bit as vile and dishonest as what the Democrats use.

All of this sways average Republican voters who don’t follow politics closely.

“Most Americans, including minorities, are “conservative”, socially.”

I have to disagree with that.
If that were true we wouldn’t have seen the gay rights explosion we’ve seen in the last few years.
Gays in the military, and gay marriage.

I think maybe a majority of individuals lean socially conservative but vote more libertarian. In other words, it’s not for me but if you want to then go ahead.

The gay thing is a media driven phenomena.

People talk the talk because they're afraid to be seen as out of step.

But if its possible to have a frank discussion with them, ask a liberal if they'd like to see their son or daughter come out of the closet and you'll see what they really think about it.

Its not who votes but who counts the votes that matters.

That may be true but it misses the point.
For whatever reason gays in the military are here and 50 state gay marriage will be soon.

And I know from having kids that are 20 & 18 they support both of those things.
So it’s generational to some degree.

“Then why on Earth do we have Obama? “

1. Gerrymandering
2. voter fraud
3. Low turnout

Then why on Earth do we have Obama?

36% Moderates + 23% Liberals = 59%.

Any other questions?

...conservatives want a candidate they can vote for, not someone who they will vote for simply to prevent a disaster like Obama.

I agree.

Despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth by our resident GOP-e trolls, that's exactly the case. Give us a real conservative to vote FOR, and watch what happens at the polls.

When you throw moderates into the mix, the country breaks out as 40% conservative, 35% moderate, and 21% liberal. So, who do moderates vote for. One of the reasons that they don’t call themselves conservatives is because of the media assigned stigma against conservatives. Conservatives are extremists, racists, gun-toting morons. Moderates don’t want to be associated with that, so they vote Democrat. It’s amazing what a good propaganda program can do for a losing political philosophy. It gets even worse when the so called conservative leadership throws their conservative constituents under the bus.

Once agAin Gallup seems to confuse Conservative with Republican. If their surmise we’re true, not only would there be no Obama presidency, there’d be no RINOs.

I don’t believe this for a second. I *wish* it were true, but you can wish in one hand and spit in the other, and see which one gets filled first.

My answer was “yes”, but I knew there would be major buyer’s remorse. By 2012, it was clearly ABO (anyone but “O”).

Pretty funny. But you know the nominating process was manipulated. Why does the GOP allow crossover primary voting, anyway?
