Suppose you were a freshly minted high-tech billionaire. You have estates and mansions on three continents. You have your own Boeing 757. You have a dozen expensive German and Italian cars. But do you have your very own basketball team? Do your other employees literally jump for you? LOOK, one might be for sale!
That was my thought as well. He wants to get rid of the team and this ws his way out.
Contrast baseball with basketball and you see a much different fan base coming to games. Nothing against The NBA. The Spurs are one of the few teams doing it the right way and world champions.
