I apologize for offending you. You are right, it did sound a little off. I have many friends that are of all ethnic groups.
I am a Christian, I believe all people are God’s creation. I guess I am attempting to understand this bizarre behavior that seems to be unique to the black community.
Racism is much different that bigotry. I do not hate a single soul. In fact, I have noticed over the years that all races of people are in fact somewhat racist.
Think about it. In the community, blacks tend to congregate with other blacks, Mexicans with other Mexicans, Asians with Asians. Does this make them racist? Sure it does in the purest sense. Races gravitate toward those of their own race. Does it make them bigots/hate filled...no.
In school forty years ago, I was a victim of this sort of marauding, frenzied pack type attacks by the blacks. Spit on, beat, robbed and had racial slurs hurled at me.
I didn’t know what racial hate was. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why the negro hated me. I’d done nothing to them, after all I was only a kid.
I know now that stupid people do stupid things. What fascinates me is this brutal hyena manic behavior displayed almost exclusively in the black community. No value on human life, no shame or guilt at injuring innocents. Very very bizarre to me.
Perhaps I’m just jaded. Again, sorry. I am not a bigot.

I think that the type of behavior that you describe is fueled mostly by a lack of proper upbringing. Most of the miscreants, I suspect, are the products of households — can’t call them homes in the true sense of the word — in which there is no father present and the female parent is a trollop, who often does not protect her offspring from scenes that children should not witness.
In addition, she does not bother to teach these kids proper behavior, respect for others, or respect for themselves. They do not progress beyond the toddler stage in terms of grabbing what they want when they want it. The young are the recipients of a lot of physical punishment, but not any positive training for behavior modification. They are angry and undisciplined. Sounds like the school mates that you describe fit into this pattern.
I am a white person who grew up in the days of segregation, so my experience is, I am sure, much different than yours. I was in college in the late 1960s. Race relations had come a long way, and people were seeing that blacks and whites had more commonalities than differences. Many, many blacks had moved into the middle class, and racially integrated neighborhoods were becoming more common. The black students that I interacted with in college exhibited the same positive attitudes toward education and proper behavior that I had.
The left could not have the races getting along; they would lose a group of the aggrieved that they pretended to champion. So we have the race baiters fanning the flames and counting on dividing groups of Americans against each other.
Most of my career was as a teacher. Except for one of those years, I taught in Catholic schools. The few black students that I had were well behaved and respectful and came from homes where they had been properly brought up.
That one year that I taught in a public school — I call it my year in hell — I encountered some pretty tough customers. This high school was, in the mid 1990s, about 10% black, but mostly white. There was a very small population of hispanics.
There were quite a few well-behaved students in that school, but about 10% were trash — and mostly white. Common, trashy, slutty, foul-mouthed, and they stole anything that was not nailed down. They even stole from each other. And, you guessed it, the trouble makers were almost never from intact families.
Sorry this is so long. But I did want to explain my take on all of this. I definitely agree with your observation about all group’s tendencies to be tribal. There is probably some sort of built-in survival mechanism at play there.
