Eventually they will get it right, but it’s not going to be easy. Stolen tech only goes so far.

In an all out fight with the US this boat would be at the bottom of the sea in minutes!
I would venture to say too that the Japs are already conceiving their PLAN on how, when, where, to sink this tub if war breaks out between them.

Do they paint their planes yellow so they are easier to find?

In an all out fight, if there’s any testosterone remaining in the white hut, MAD is still the overwhelming doctrine.

MAD is still the overwhelming doctrine.
At the rate Ozulu is decommissioning our nuclear arsenal, it is not MAD anymore, it is more like slightly MIFFED (meager international formally forceful engaged destruction)

Carrier flight operations are inherently dangerous. The skills needed to do them successfully are paid for in blood.
Prayers for the aviators and their families.

"Eventually they will get it right, but its not going to be easy. Stolen tech only goes so far." That's a fundamental difference between the US and Chinese approaches to such things. After two pilot deaths, the US would suspend operations and reevaluate the program and make any necessary adjustments to get the system right for the pilots.
The Chinese will just keep throwing pilots at it until they get the right pilots for the system.

Worked with a retired Navy carrier guy.
He claimed that a typical deployment would have TWO accidental deaths.
To: Woodman
A Navy pilot spoke to one of my ROTC classes at The Citadel and said carrier landings are not all that difficult, especially at night.
He then continued that if we wanted to get an idea of what it is like, just put a postage stamp on the floor, turn off the lights, stick out your tongue, jump forward and lick the stamp.

You can't steal muscle memory or the training that it results from. You can't steal motivation to be the best when your corrupt Communist masters confiscate the fruit of your labors for their own nefarious purposes.

The Chinese, like the Russians and the Indians, use STOBAR, and those yellow lines are the two takeoff runs.
