“This will put Vicodin/Hydrocodone in the same classification as Oxycodone(OxyContin) and Morphine, ect. COMPLETELY wrong headed and stupid. The DEA already has providers so scared/intimidated to prescribe these types of medicines, patients that are literally suffering can barely get any help.”
I have been taking Vicodin for years for my shoulders. One before bed helped me get to sleep. All the injections over the years did squat to help me. Last time I went to my doctor he said no more Vicodin. Gave me Ibuprofen 800’s that don’t help at all. Said if I want Vicodin I have to go to a pain management center.
So I did. Gave them my history, my prescriptions, my injection dates, my physical therapy treatment history. They look at everything and ask me what I am looking to accomplish. I said simply sleep, since my shoulders will never get any better. They write me a prescription for Ibuprofen and if that doesn’t work they will start on injections and physical therapy.
Wtf?????
The pain management place will eventually help you, but for CYA purposes, they need a paper trail showing where they tried ‘everything else’ first, and they probably try to earn $$$$$ from newer patients by ‘trying’ to fix you with with some sort of procedure, like injections. This also weeds out the ‘drug seekers’, which they probably encounter daily.
When they DO eventually give you what works, anticipate random drug screenings and a monthly ‘bottle inspection’ every time you go. (you are literally treated like something just barely above a potential criminal)
I’ve known a couple of people that’s been through it.
