Probably a little expensive to build an mandatory warning system for aircraft, canary would be cheaper, but it probably couldn’t withstand many G’s but hypoxia can be fatal if one doesn’t recognize the symptoms in time to go on oxygen or get to a lower altitude.

We now have two fairly recent incidents indicating hypoxia overcame people before they were aware of the problem. In the AF we trained by actually experiencing hypoxia to become aware of our own personal symptoms, and even then there is no guarantee. Oddly enough todays plane was flying at the exact altitude I trained at back in the day, in the altitude chamber.

These planes don’t have O2 sensors?
