You need to consider the lasting effects of slavery on the entire race even in Africa, caused by the whites.

Slavery was not caused by the whites. The enslavers were black. They were a superior force to the enslaved that were inferior. Rather than sell them to African buyers, they sold them to Europeans probably at a much better price.

Then there is James Monroe, President of the United States. During his time, a black African state was established as a home for those enslaved in America. It still exists and the name is Liberia,its capital is Monrovia.
