Steyn: Difference In Obama Approach To Freeing Bergdahl Vs Sotloff, Foley "Fascinating"
Breitbart.com ^ | September 3, 2014 | Breitbart TV

In filling in for Rush Limbaugh on his Tuesday radio show, conservative commentator Mark Steyn pointed to a contrast in the different approach President Barack Obama went through to free U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from the Taliban versus the two decapitated journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley from ISIS.

Amazing difference.
He holds a traitor in higher esteem than two reporters.
Wonder if he had a dossier in his hand detailing how much or how little the reporters supported his regime?

Obama is running interference for his islamic brethren. That is his Jihad. He shuffles and dances just enough to keep people mesmerized while their pockets and livesd are being picked. So many suckers, so little time.

Yes, and recall his statements.
“I will stand with the muslims should the political winds turn an ugly direction.”
The worse muslims behave, the more he does to run interference for them.
“America can absorb a couple more 9/11 attacks.”
Meaning he is hoping they hit us again.

Well, Sotloff was Jewish and apparently a dual Israeli-American citizen.

The only surprise I have is Obama didn’t cut his throat personally.

Obummer holds the lives of Muslim terrorists in higher esteem than of patriotic Americans.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck it is an Obama shucking and jiving duck.

I'll defend Obama on this one. Bergdahl was sent to Afghanistan by the U.S. government and probably had some classified information. He may have been a deserter but he may have also been posing as one to get information about Al Qaeda's whereabouts and movements in a territory where we already had a military presence.

The two journalists entered Syria on their own volition to try to "capture the story" and were not U.S. government employees. They were Americans (I guess - you know how journalists like to think they are "citizens of the world") but they are the equivalent of the missionaries and aid workers who go to hostile territory for their own personal agendas. I don't think the U.S. government has as great an obligation to send the military in after such people as they do a soldier (disgraced or not), particularly in area with no military presence.

Granted, I don't like the "trade" Obama made to get Bergdahl but we can't just give the Muzzies their demands every time they kidnap an American or they'd just do it more often. Besides, these journalists need reminders sometimes that they are indeed mortal and some of the stupid risk-taking they do will have fatal consequences.

Primarily, I think it's the media that gets all upset when the media gets someone murdered. They love to think that somehow they are above the fray when they really aren't and sometimes need to be reminded of that.

Simply put, he’s sympathetic to the muslims - mainly, because he’s one of them. When everyone finally wakes up to this fact, everything else he’s done will make sense.

“I'll defend Obama on this one.”

What? Your “speculation” about Bergdahl is a fantasy! Berghdal is a "fairy." He took ballet lessons. He had no stomach for being a soldier and he deserted. He still deserves to be shot for his actions, and you think he was on some sort of spy mission. Sheeze!

I can agree with some of what you said but the remark above is about the most preposterous I have ever read here on FR.

I could be totally wrong but undercover guys often are coached to behave like malcontents so that when they desert or defect, they have some street cred with the enemy.

Remember Lee Harvey Oswald? After he defects to Russia and denounces his American citizenship, he's suddenly let back into the country and our intelligence doesn't even bother to debrief him or ask him why he's bringing his Russian-born wife with him. And where did he get the money and the passport to fly back to the U.S.?

Obama definitely wanted to get this guy back for some reason and you can draw your own conclusions why that was. I admit, mine is total speculation but my greater point was that the journalists were not U.S. government employees and were captured in an area without a U.S. military presence. Those are two legit reasons why the administration went after Bergdahl and not the two journalists.

BTW, I can spend days criticizing Obama for all his policies and failures. I just don't see failing to rescue a couple of journalists as being very high on that list.

I wonder if the liberal press is capable of seeing the truth on this one...

I am in complete agreement with your assessment. There is very little by way of real journalism being practiced anywhere on the globe today. “J” Schools are just like law schools, in that they turn out automatons for liberalism. So I don’t much care what happens to them when they decide to “go in “harms way.” They have to assume all the risks of what might happen to them as a consequence. Not that I think that the beheadings aren’t barbaric, but rather that the should not receive any special attention insofar as our foreign policy is concerned.
Right now, I am just concerned that we may have to endure another 911 hit here because Obama is a weak, unprincipled man who’s “agenda” transcends the real needs of the country.

No, why would their god harm them?
They worship him, run interference for him, and praise him.
Why wouldn’t their god, Imperitor Ubama the First reward them?
