Nevertheless, surveys that try to track their mood swings border on the superficial. “Why do millennials like socialism?” Ekins asks. “Because they don’t know what it is.”
Yet and still, what they have seen of big government, they increasingly do not like. Ekins notes that during the Obama years, the percentage of millennials who want a large government with more services has gone from seven out of ten to 54 percent.
Similarly, over that same time period, the percentage of millennials who think government is inefficient has gone from 42 percent to 66 percent.
Ekins found in a recent poll that, perhaps not too surprisingly, millennials have a better image of themselves than those over 30. For example, three-quarters of millennials think they have a good work ethic but only half of those surveyed over 30 agree. Nonetheless, Ekins wrote, “ Interestingly, Americans under 30 are as likely as those over 30 to say 18-29 year olds are selfish (71%).”

Fair enough.
But the fact remains that were it not for the Under 30 vote, Mitt Romney would be the President right now.
Perhaps those young idiots that spent all that time worshiping the One, finally came to realize that after spending 50+k on a College Education, living in Mom’s basement isn’t so much fun after all.
That or they are now over 26 and have to purchase Obamacare and don’t like it.
Either way, sometimes getting an education can get REAL expensive. Glad to see some of them see the light.
I seem to recall that Romney actually WON a small majority of the Under 30 WHITE vote.

It happened with my generation as well. Too many boomers thought Jimbo Carter was the reincarnation of JFK who, despite all the media hype, was a fairly mediocre president.
Double digit interest and unemployment rates led most of us to wake up four years later.
The big difference, I think, is that easy student loans has enabled too many of them to stay in Mummy's basement and stretch out their adolescent years longer than in our day.

As a boomer neither did I. If that was where you are going. I also didn’t vote for Carter, Clinton, or O’bama.
Sounds like you and I were both strongly influenced by having to spend our developmental years under Jimmy Carter.
I was a baby when LBJ was elected. Wilson and FDR were far before my time. As I grew up the adults around me were actually WAY more Liberal, at least on economic issues.
I can fully believe that Millenials are turning on Obama and his failed policies. Problem is they have nary a clue about what the RIGHT direction should be. That’s our fault for allowing an education system that deliberately hid this from them.
So, maybe Senator Rand Paul is on the right track in thinking that the millennial vote is up for grabs this time around?
Yes, they more or less own the education system, starting with the teachers’ colleges, and the mass media as well. When’s the last time you saw a businessman portrayed sympathetically on a tv program, for instance?
However, as I’ve said before, the Hunger Games series of books, and now the movies that are following up, could turn an entire generation against a big, overpowering, centralized government. The books were widely read, and were definitely an indictment of centralized power, and in favor of individual effort and fortitude.
Frankly, I’m amazed Hollywood is letting the movies be produced as their theme is so contrary to what the Left believes. Maybe Leftists are assuming that the thug running the country in Hunger Games is a conservative? If so, I doubt that’s the message the young take away from the books. More like, get the government out of my life, in my opinion.

Possibly, but don’t forget all those who’ve already paid off their loans. They’ll be pretty irritated that behaving responsibly cost them money, as it usually does when Dems are in control.
And a lot of people who managed to get through school without massive debt, by working, scholarships, savings, etc., could also be miffed to see those who partied and borrowed end up being bailed out of their loans.
Two-edged sword, I think, like many liberal moves.
