Ending a yearlong negotiation, the Obama administration on Thursday approved Gov. Corbett's alternative Medicaid expansion proposal, a step that could extend health-care benefits to roughly 600,000 uninsured Pennsylvanians.
In what was described as a five-year demonstration project, Pennsylvania got the go-ahead to use federal money to pay private insurers to provide health care to uninsured individuals - many in low-wage jobs.
The Obama administration praised Pennsylvania for joining other states that opted into the program under the Affordable Care Act. Corbett administration officials called the agreement a successful compromise.

Corbett is neither panicky nor pandering. He is doing what he thinks is best for Pennsylvanians.
Of course, the Dems hate him with a passion and they’ve got their full complement of seminar writers bombarding the Letters section of every Pennsylvania newspaper. As a result, Corbett is getting crushed in the polls.
Corbett is a GOP-E hack, and is trying to revive his moribund campaign by caving in to King Barry. Won’t work.
Big unions and millionaire socialists are flooding this race with huge money against Corbett desperately trying to oust him. Pennsylvania is toast if Corbett loses...
Pennsylvania is toast no matter who wins.
Anyone eager to see Corbett lose should just save themselves some time and move straight to Detroit.
