In Great Britain, the Liberal Democrat party is proposing that "age appropriate" sex education classes be introduced to include internet porn and social media for students as young as seven years old.
The party wants to implement new courses that address sites and apps like Twitter and Snapchat, which can contain sexually explicit material. The party says it wants to avoid "extreme" subjects and make the courses age appropriate.
"We're not saying as politicians children should be taught XYZ or ABC, as we're not the policy experts," Spokesman Ben Rothe said, according to the UK Mirror. "We're not saying children should be learning how to put condoms on or what an STI is - it will be age appropriate."
The curriculum of exactly what would be covered is to be developed by the department of education in Britain. The course would also include lessons in financial responsibility and citizenship.
With younger and younger children operating social media pages and being exposed to inappropriate images, should the United States also start sex education earlier?
Lindsey Burke, fellow of education at the Heritage Foundation, told The Christian Post she feels that the recent trends of attempting to put the power in the hands of the federal government to decide what cirriculum should be taught alienates parents.
"As it pretains to here in America, it really highlights the need for school choice for families," Burke said. "We've seen a push the last few years towards standardized testing. I think it's illustrative that we're seeing cirriculum systems centralized and placed in the hands of the federal government. It poses a real problem for parents who want to have a say."

Hey, why not include it in our COMMON CORE curriculum? /s
The question isn’t whether the US should do the same, but rather, how soon will the Progressive Liberal Elites in charge of the Public education system adopt the same practice.
They look to the UK for new trends, etc. and then follow suit. I would expect adoption of the same standard in 12 to 24 months or so.
There is nothing age appropriate about teaching sex to 7 year olds! Let them be children!
Seems the problems of today all can be traced back to the ‘sexual revolution’ when the schools got involved with sex education.
When I went to high school, early 60s to ‘69; there were no divorces but for one family, in which the daughter dropped out 2 years after the divorce as she was pregnant and the son went to prison for armed robbery 2 years after the divorce. Was obvious that divorce broke up the family and affected the kids deeply. They were actually very nice kids, otherwise, though I know it does not sound it, it’s true.
No one had seen porn, and it was not even known to us.
When a girl liked a boy it was very much involved with romance, from the girls perspective, that is. Young teenage boys, not always, but there was a kind of romantic view for them for a certain girl.
The girls marrying as virgins were not uncommon.
None of the girls had venereal diseases in high school or in the following years.
As girls, we dressed modestly. Our personal opinion of ourselves was not about ‘sexual appeal’. We were human beings first and foremost.
No teachers got sexually involved with their students.
they need to know how to please their Pakistani captors.
Age appropriate sex ed for a 7 yr old: if anyone touches you here, get away fast and tell a grow up you trust (parent, principal, policeman). The only exception is if the person is a doctor or nurse and Mom or Dad are there.
All they need to know at 7 is that if someone touches them in the bathing suit area they need to tell their parents immediately.
Then their parents need to bust some heads either physically or through law enforcement...
they need to know how to please their Pakistani rulers.
After they have excited the gonads of the little kiddies with sexually explicit porn, who is going to be able to sit still for lessons on "financial responsibility and citizenship."
Sex education should occur in the child’s home and not in school. Better yet, the child’s entire education should occur in his home.
More of what the UK is doing to lead the West into the abyss.
Nuke the island from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
And if parents wont teach it?.
My sex ed in the UK started at 10, with the very basics. At secondary school (12-16/17/18), it became more specific.
IMO that’s a sensible age and progression.
It is the responsibility of the parents. It is not the same as teaching math because educating a child in matters of sex also has a component of morality to it. The parents should not just tell him how things work physically; the child also needs to learn about respect and personal responsibility.
