Patrick Mclaw, 23, an eighth grade language arts teacher at Maryland's Mace Lane Middle School, has been placed on leave after authoring "The Insurrectionist," a fictional book that chronicles "the largest school massacre in history."

There is one reason that would make sense.
If the author was just using the appearance of a fictional account to pass on plans for how to commit an attack on specific schools, say to terrorists.

Or, possibly, the techniques in his book mimic plans that the ruling elite have drawn up to use to put the populace in total fear mode. They want to know how he came up with the same ideas they did, and they want that info suppressed.
However, usually the things our ‘government’ does do NOT make sense, so I am likely way off base.
Since most newsworthy items today really boil down to MONEY, maybe this is some tactic to try to increase sales of his book.

LA Times has story that he was not placed on leave because of the books or names but rather on mental health issues prompted by a letter he wrote.
