CDC Director: Ebola in Africa now an ‘epidemic,’ ‘completely out of control’
Hot Air ^ | September 2, 2014 | Noah Rothman

Centers for Disease Control Director Tom Friedman did not return from his visit to West Africa, where the worst outbreak of Ebola in history has spread to five countries and killed at least 1,500 people, with any good news.

Friedman told CNN hosts on Tuesday that the Ebola outbreak in Africa is currently “completely out of control” and is now an “epidemic.” The CDC director added that “it will get worse in the future and our window of opportunity to turn it around is closing.”

Whatever the case, with the current administration and their syncophantic media, it is a given that any crisis will be utilized to the utmost to usurp and concentrate more power.

****************************

Totally agree. It’s all “political” with them ... every decision based on politics/keeping & flexing power .... human lives are totally expendable.

How about just not going to a mall?

I don’t go to a ‘mall’. I go to a grocery store only when I have to - maybe once a month, if that. Currently, the garden and last year’s venison are keeping me in food ... I make my own laundry detergent, etc. I’m constantly looking for ways to avoid spending money or going out among the “great unwashed masses”.

I read a few days ago where a "medical expert" here has poo-pooed Ebola spreading to the United States via foreign exchange students from Africa so it OK to let them in. The reason given it is a "tropical virus" and cannot survive in colder climates. So, the university students from West Africa are now streaming in.

Yikes!

So when do they plan on stopping all air travel from Africa to this country? Or would that be politically incorrect?

Don’t forget the handles of the gas pumps.

Or ATM machines.

I carry both vinyl gloves and gardening gloves for pumping gas or anything else that requires I touch something God knows who touched before me.

I don’t use ATM machines - cash only, but since money is SO awfully dirty, I clean my hands off after paying for something.

Since I carry the wipes all the time, I do clean off after gas pump handles, etc. I’m sure it sounds very paranoid to some people, but wiping off is an easy habit to get into and I know it’s saved me a lot of colds over the years. Not into carrying gloves yet .... but I think it’s coming. I wonder how long it will be before people in America are walking around with those little white masks on like they do in other countries.

Sadly, the MSM chooses to ignore MLK’s dream. In doing so, they demean all “people of color”.

(”People of Color” - what color(s)?... Do pink, tan, yellow count, too?)

I am stocking up as I usually do with winter approaching.

We don’t live very close to much of anything and so if I don’t have something on hand, there’s no running to the store for it. We just do without and make other plans.

Plus, I hate dragging stuff in through the snow and slop. I’d rather just have everything I need on hand for the duration and only buy what’s absolutely essential.

I do stuff like that too, but mostly I stay home.

Young people don’t even think about stuff like this. My grand daughter asked me to babysit the great grand babies this past weekend, and I did.

When I got there, I saw amoxicillian in the refrigerator. Both kids had the sniffles and one had an earache. Did my best with what I had available, but I am sure I’ll be sneezing and coughing soon.

If only she’d told me before hand, I would have brought more stuff with me. It did bring home to me, how hard it would be to manage to take care of sick person without being exposed, even if you had the masks and gloves.

1950s Women’s Glove Etiquette http://www.retrowaste.com/1950s/fashion-in-the-1950s/1950s-gloves-etiquette-styles-trends-pictures/

When a Lady Wears Gloves

Gloves should be worn on the streets of cities and large town, when going to church, to a luncheon, dinner or reception; a dance, a wedding or an official function. They are also worn to a restaurant and in the theater.

Smart women usually wear gloves while travelling on a train or plane … or in any public conveyance.

On formal occasions, gloves are worn by the guests and by the hostess, while she is receiving,

When a Lady Removes Her Gloves

Gloves must always be removed before eating, drinking, smoking, playing cards or putting on makeup.

When lunching in a restaurant, a lady removes her coat but keeps on her hat and gloves, removing her gloves when seated at the table.

At dances, long gloves would be part of a lady’s ensemble and as such, kept on. The glove fingers should be tucked into the opening at the wrist while smoking or drinking, and the gloves removed entirely immediately upon sitting at the table.

When gloves are worn merely as a covering for the hands (such as heavy winter gloves), they should be removed with the coat.

What to do When Shaking Hands

A lady never takes off her gloves to shake hands … and never asks that her glove be excused. (Of course, this is excepted if she is wearing soiled gardening gloves, or the like … in which case she says she is sorry she can’t shake hands.)

It appears there is no plan (which would be consistent with the First Golfer’s general leadership).

My guess is that as soon as the first employee of any airline gets infected, they’ll all refuse to fly there, and the mechs will refuse to service any returning a/c.

Read bullet point G and then explain to me why they think commercial air travel from West Africa is safe.

Exactly. The CDC finally admitted on Friday that you can catch it just being 3 feet from someone and that people may be contagious before the symptoms appear.

Why on earth they allow air travel to and from these places is beyond me. Air travel should be restricted to medical personnel only, and those returning from the area should be quarantined for other’s safety.

Closer to home

"Greater Mexico City is the largest metropolitan area in Mexico and the area with the highest population density. As of 2009, 21,163,226 persons live in this urban agglomeration"
