The re-election campaign of U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has gained momentum in the last month, propelled by huge leads over Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes in Western and Eastern Kentucky and among men, according to a new Bluegrass Poll.

With less than 10 weeks until Election Day, the poll of 569 likely voters shows McConnell with a 4-point lead over Grimes, up from a 2 point margin a month ago. McConnell now leads Grimes 46 percent to 42 percent...

McConnell is, by principle, either a liberal or a limp-wristed moderate who can't ever be counted on for standing upon conservative principle.

McConnell is neither liberal or limp-wristed. He's a craven Quisling who sold his soul to the statists and thrown his hard-working-class constituents under the bus. Why? So that he can continue to be feted by the powers-that-be "Inside the Beltway" and live off the fat of the land.

Working really hard on that. His power is greatly reduced because some of his supporters got the boot from the legislature this cycle.

OH!..We'll remember, when we step into that voting booth in Nov.
Ditch Mitch!, for now.

I am a proud conservative Patriot, I have a great love for the things that made us a great country
our Constitution/the BoRs..our shared history & mores..our enterprising ingenuity..this period of
time is really wretching to me. We Conservatives/Libertarians..and yes, even Moderate Republicans
must band together, we are playing into the Marxists' hand, of "divide and conquer". We are the
conservative majority and they know it. We reflect the voters' conservative mindset, Our similarities
far exceed, our individual differences. To use an old/worn (but true :) clinche, "United We Stand;
Divided We Fall" 😐

Hugh, in fact. Have you even read your own FReeper page ? You admit to being Libertarian. That’s at odds with many aspects of Conservatism, and you certainly can’t be the latter “as the day is long” when you admit to being a combo of the two. Nevermind your usage of the phrase “purist”, a leftist/RINO/troll talking point heard ad infinitum on these boards when real Conservatives demand (gasp !) Conservative standards from allegedly “Conservative” Republicans.

How does having a senator Grimes help elect conservatives? Here’s a hint. It doesn’t. In fact it hurts conservatives.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face is a bad policy. I won’t do it.

A liberal Senator McConnell who has PROVEN that he supports Harry Reid's agenda is more dangerous than Grimes because McConnell is in a leadership position.

You aren't going to make your liberal republican party more conservative by rewarding liberal republicans with your vote.

I will continue to work to politically destroy liberal republicans, in the primary or in the general election.

Your short-term thinking makes the republican party liberal.

I wrote my page years ago when I was having a dalliance with the Libertarian party when I was in my mid twenties. I was attracted to them them because they were the only ones who would say out loud that they wanted to abolish extra-constitutional government agencies like the departments of Energy and Education.

I have since accepted that there is such a thing as politics, and that you have to get the people on your side to make real changes to the system. That’s why I have dropped my earlier purism and come to support the Republican party which for all its faults is the only practical vehicle to advance conservative principles within the American political system.

Look, I can out pure all you supposed purists. As a matter of philosophy I’m ready to cut government to the absolute bone. My instincts are radically constitutionalist and minarchist.

I just think we need to be serious about what we’re up against here. The left spent the better part of a century marching through our institutions. If you think we’re going to undo that by needling the hapless Republicans with passive tactics like sitting out elections or patently stupid tactics like voting for Democrats, then you are pathetically mistaken and part of the problem.

the best Solution; The Conservatives/GOP takes the Senate (and keeps the HoR w/large
margins), Senate RINOs are re-elected (w/smaller margins), but MM/JB don't retain the
leadership positions, Ted Cruz is elected as Senate Majority Leader with Gormert as
SotH
..one can dream, can't we?
D'rats retreat further from reality are certified insane.."Bathhouse" 0'Mullah is totally incapacitated/heartbroken
(Reggie gets married to a woman :); Biden takes long walk off a short pier, NAZI Pelosi's face rips/cracks. 😆
Moooshelle, actually goes on a real diet and smokes cigarettes.."her kids", become stanch black conservatives.

There is such a thing as an edit function for your page. You’re about where I was when I was in my early 20s in the mid ‘90s politically. Fortunately, I discovered that my principles were more important than being a mindless party hack and apologist (it took all of a few years once the GOP was in power). I am a Conservative, first and foremost. I support the GOP when its candidates reflect that agenda, not in words, but in deeds. Talk is cheap, especially during an Election Year. When the candidates reflect a liberal/corrupt status quo, they don’t get my support. It’s that simple.

McConnell has done nothing during his 8 years as Minority Leader to actively derail the Zero regime. Contrast that with Harry Reid who used his Minority Leader position to make a monkey out of Dubya and my former Senator Bill Frist when he served as the hapless Majority Leader. Reid has been effective for his side for a decade while the Conservative agenda has been screwed up and down under our so-called “leadership.” That McConnell is even in a competitive race in a federal Republican state is proof positive he only has himself to blame for his incompetence and anti-Conservative agenda.

How do you expect he will magically turn to the right, AFTER an election, come next year, and start doing all the things he should’ve been doing for the past 8 years ? I think you know the answer to that.

Grimes better than McConnell? Grimes is ultra liberal on every issue.

Electing Grimes will help insure Harry Reid has the majority position for life. Electing Grimes is bad short and long term. She is a liberal democrat who’ll be loyal to Harry Reid.

All that it’ll insure is Harry Reid staying in power which will ensure amnesty, baby murder, homosexual marriage, high taxes and the rest of the liberal agenda fully supported by Grimes.

If you haven't noticed, McConnell, with critical cloture votes, allowed Harry Reid's agenda to move forward.

I call that worse.

And it doesn't matter. Your liberal republican candidate is a sitting incumbent that is in a leadership position, and he can only scrape a 4% lead (within the margin of error).

He's toast.

People won't reward liberal republicans with their vote any more.

If you would spend half the time working to ensure conservative candidates that you do supporting liberal candidates, much of your party's problems would be solved.

Just getting them to quit changing the rules, and cheating to keep their liberal as the nominee (See Cochran) would help.

No sale, newb.

Spare me the advice on the edit function. I’ve clearly indicated later additions to my page.

And no, I don’t think I’m where you were at when you were in your twenties. You were a sheep and now you’re a radical — both ignorant positions. I’m well ahead of you.
