An Islamist-allied militia group says it has 'secured' a U.S. Embassy compound in Libya's capital, more than a month after American personnel evacuated from the country over ongoing fighting.

An Associated Press journalist walked through the compound Sunday after the Dawn of Libya, an umbrella group for Islamist militias, invited onlookers inside.

Windows at the compound had been broken, but it appeared most of the equipment there remained untouched. A commander for the Dawn of Libya group said his forces had entered and been in control of the compound since last week.

Saw a couple pics of the embassy on the news this morning.

Looks to me like all you have to do is drive a truck or two through the brick walls and you’re in.

Khadaffy in his day was a vile evil player.  He deserved what he got.

The problem for the West is that he had mellowed over time, and what he was replaced with won't.

There are times in life when we wish for things to happen, and when they have we look back and realize we didn't quite understand the full dynamics before things became suddenly worse.

I don't believe the region has suddenly been rescued.  Instead I think the region has suddenly receded into darkness.

Sounds like Obama and pals are still fixated on removing Assad. Its like they’re brain damaged and incapable of learning from past mistakes.

Arab Middle East leaders are tyrants. It’s the nature of the beast in that part of the world. Best they be the ones that are on our side.

"An Associated Press journalist walked through the compound Sunday after the Dawn of Libya, an umbrella group for Islamist militias, invited onlookers inside. "

The onlookers were asked if they could teach the Islamists how to use the bathroom equipment.

Vallerie Jarrett offered it for rent months ago, no security deposit applicable because there is no security. A modest tax will be applied going forward, as those funds will be used for Barack’s greens fees once he is out of office.

I say let em party while we drop a JDAM on the compound from 50,000 feet. Make it a 2,000 pounder. Drop one on every embassy we bug out of. Leave nothing bigger than a dime.

Or, possibly, what they did in the past was not a mistake.
