Yes, factions from Revolutionary War days are still operating in rural NC. Things had barely cooled down after the Revolution when they started up again during the Civil War, with another round during the Depression.

It’s the same way in the Cherokee Tribe. The parties that compete for the tribal leadership in Oklahoma have been in place for a couple hundred years, well before the Trail of Tears.
