Democrats Wary of Benghazi Inquiry Stretching Into ’16 Election Season

WASHINGTON — A House Republican-led investigation of the 2012 terrorist attack on an American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, will extend well into next year, and possibly beyond, raising concerns among Democrats that Republicans are trying to damage Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential prospects.

Representative Trey Gowdy, Republican of South Carolina and the chairman of the House select committee on Benghazi, said his go-slow investigation was not motivated by politics. He said that he had gone out of his way to maintain good relations with Democrats on the committee, asking Representative Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the panel’s ranking Democrat, to join him in private meetings in July with family members of the four Americans killed in Libya in July.

“I promised the family members of the four slain and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle the investigation would be serious and fair,” Mr. Gowdy said in an email. “Nothing would undercut both of those promises like an orchestrated timing.” Photo

But concern is rising, both among Democrats and among those who note that most select committees tend to conclude far more quickly. For instance, the select bipartisan committee to investigate the response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 took a year from its formation to complete a 361-page report. The bipartisan commission that examined the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, took a year and a half.

The Benghazi committee, which was formed in May, could take much longer, and leaders are budgeting as much as $3.3 million for the investigation this year alone, a sum greater than the entire budget of the House Intelligence Committee. Mr. Gowdy said he would spend less than that, and he has set the panel’s first public hearing for September, to review enactment of the State Department’s security recommendations after the attack.

Funny how investigations drag on and on when witnesses are given new identities, subpoenas are refused, people are repeatedly found to lie, etc

If dems want this to go fast, they should be telling the foreign enemy combatant in the White House to stop obfuscating, lying, and committing other crimes.

” raising concerns among Democrats that Republicans are trying to damage Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential prospects”

She doesn’t need any help in that department.

Why would the darkside be concerned about it stretching into 2016 if it is — as they claim — just a “fake scandal?”

In all reality, the dems have very little to concern them... the American public has long forgotten what and where Benghazi is, and why it matters.

It greatly helps to have someone in the White House whose first and only instinct is to lie, obfuscate and obstruct the investigation. The Justice Department wasn't reduced to the corrupt mafia lawyer outfit it is today.

Thank You for the ping(s). It does help to keep informed if mind doesn’t break from all the information. Prayers for everyone to remain sane, myself included. Is going to be a long and arduous process similar to removing all our teeth.

Hence daily reports on my local low-info TV news about the “outrageous” amount of money being “wasted” by the select committee.

If we had followed Hillary’s advice ISIS would be in Damascus today killing the men and raping the women and children. How was Benghazi related to ISIS?

http://www.wnd.com/2014/08/has-hillary-ever-been-right/

“The valkyrie of the Democratic Party says she urged President Obama to do more to aid Syrian rebels years ago. And last summer, she supported air strikes on Bashar Assad’s regime.

Had we followed her advice and crippled Assad’s army, ISIS might be in Damascus today, butchering Christians and Alawites and aiding the Islamic State in Iraq in overrunning Baghdad.”

Benghazi may creep into the discussion, but an ISIS terrorism campaign against the West or within the US will do more to debunk Obama and the Left than anything Hillary is currently attached too. Just remember it was Hillary’s State Department that failed to negotiate the SOFA with Iraq in 2010.

Chairman Trey Gowdy understands that his drip - Drip - - DRIP investigation style is a very effective tool against the sound-bite style of “not a smidgen of corruption,” Democrat Political Machine of Reid, Pelosi and Obama.

Gowdy’s strategy may well prove to be the best documentation yet of why Democrats are unsuited to be in leadership positions in the US Federal Government.

After all, the same Democrats who were responsible for their decisions, or lack thereof, with respect to Benghazi also have decision ties to the NSA, IRS, and EPA Democrat policy decisions.

Thus, Chairman Gowdy can potentially document the vast Democrat connections that tie together what has made the Obama Administration the most destructive force so popular with the Democrat Politicians in the US Senate and House of Representatives since January, 2009.

Chairman Gowdy is thus putting himself in position to be the deciding Republican Politician as to the future defeat of Democrats in the 2016 National Election.

While other Republican Politicians and pundits wring their hands in fear of what the Media will say about them, and fretfully hope to win short term battles by narrowly gaining control of the US Senate, Trey Gowdy seems to be more interested in winning the WAR against the entire ruling Democrat Political Machine.

The Republicans may squeak by with a narrow 2014 Election victory, but 2016 could well be the year that the Democrat Party receives its much deserved, landslide defeat.

I would prefer that Gowdy keep it short and to the point, because endless investigations (ala Issa) run up to hundreds of millions of dollars pointlessly spent. I am confident Gowdy can wrap this up, one way or the other.

These Foreign U.S. Allies Just Did Something Major Behind Obama’s Back, And He Will NOT Be Happy
westernjournalism.com ^ | august 26, 2014 | norvell rose / FR Posted by lowbridge

“The Obama administration did not know ahead of time about the highly unusual military intervention….” That’s how the Washington Post describes a recent series of airstrikes in the Libyan capital of Tripoli by Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The secret attacks, according to the New York Times, were aimed at Islamist-allied militias battling for control of Tripoli; and they represent “a major escalation of a regional power struggle set off by Arab Spring revolts.”

In what could be a sign of increasingly strained international relations, the Times also reports: The United States, the officials said, was caught by surprise: Egypt and the Emirates, both close allies and military partners, acted without informing Washington, leaving the Obama administration on the sidelines. Some observers note that both the UAE and Egypt appear to be doing more to combat the rise of Islamist extremism than the United States. (Excerpt) Read more at westernjournalism.com ...

==============================================

ANALYSIS--Egypt? Giving Obama the finger? That's no surprise. They've done it before. In the post-Morsi era, Gen al Sisi (now Egyptian president) refused to take Obama's phone call---b/c Obama wanted al Sisi to leave the M/B alone.

Brilliant strategist, al Sisi, proceeded to smash the M/B and throw them out of Egyptian politics....he vowed to rebuild the 65 Christian churches the M/B had torched.

==============================================

POINTS TO PONDER:

<><> The Sharia government of Brunei – whose Sultan has been on the receiving end of Hollywood protesters for his ownership stake in the Beverly Hills Hotel – has made significant contributions to the Clinton Foundation. ...

<><> Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah isn’t the only Muslim fundamentalist with connections to Hillary Clinton or the Clinton Foundation.

<><> As Shoebat.com reported last year, Muslim Brotherhood member Gehad El-Haddad was arrested in Egypt and not only was the Chief of Staff to Khairat al-Shater, who is Deputy Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood there...AT THE SAME TIME El-Haddad was an employee of the tax-exempt Clinton Foundation.

<><> In addition to El-Haddad, Hillary’s very close and longtime aide Huma Abedin is strongly connected to the Muslim Brotherhood. Abedin’s mother is a leader with the Muslim Sisterhood and one of her co-leaders is the wife of imprisoned former President of Egypt, Mohammed Mursi, who is also a member of Muslim the Brotherhood.

=================================================

It should be remembered that while the Muslim Brotherhood was in charge in Egypt, Obama and Hillary showered them with praise and provided billions of dollars in aid, arms, tanks and planes. Egypt has unceremoniously thrown the Muslim Brotherhood out of Egyptian politics.... and hasn’t forgotten the support offered to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Egypt has now charged Obama and Hillary Clinton for conspiring and collaborating with the M/B and advancing their terrorist activities. Hillary's pal, al Haddad, is also sitting in an Egyptian jail (reported by H/T Western Journalism).
