Featherman: 'Vacationistas' need to go home
Philly.com ^

Posted on 08/28/2014 10:26:59 AM PDT by Phillyred

I’m no fan of President Obama.

I didn’t vote for him the first time or the last time.

I’ve publicly condemned Obamacare as well as what I believe are Obama’s failed economic and foreign policies.

That does not give me, you or anyone else the right to trash him or his family. Nor does it give us the right to tell outright lies.

MORE COVERAGE Did Bush or Obama take more vacation? Unfortunately, that’s exactly what has been going on, especially over the past few weeks. Disgusting cheap shots have been taken at both the President and the First Lady.

Starting with President Obama, his detractors – some of whom are fringe theorists “birthers” – have attacked him – falsely and quite ignorantly – of taking more vacation time than his last three two-term predecessors. In a report released over the weekend by the Associated Press, Obama had taken 138 vacation days, compared to 381 for George W. Bush, 174 for Bill Clinton and 349 for Ronald Reagan – all calculated at the same point in their second term. Even adding all of Obama’s and Clinton’s vacation days to date is less than the total spent by either Bush or Reagan.

Yet, the glaring truth hasn’t prevented local Obama critics from going to social media to criticize Obama on this issue – ranging from sarcastic memes to false claims that Obama missed attending a murdered US general’s funeral for a round of golf.

Here's the REAL numbers, that really matter:

Obama has played 186 rounds of golf during his presidency through Aug. 12, according to Yahoo! News. That number that has gone up a bit since then due to additional rounds on Martha’s Vineyard.

Bush played many fewer rounds as president — 24

YEP!

You read that right, Bush played a TOTAL over 8 years of 24 rounds of golf!!!

FACT CHECK THAT YOU LIBERAL LIARS!

So where does the lie come from that Bush spent more time on vacation?

Well, it's because most of Bush's (and Reagan's) supposed vacation time was just time he spent at his ranch instead of Camp David which isn't counted as vacation time. Since Obama like Clinton maintains no other home and instead resides entirely at the white house, ANY trip home for another president with a home besides the white house is counted as a vacation!

The flight records and costs for the VIP squadron at Andrews AFB for each of these presidents would be of interest.

Yep! He gives it away right at the top... the old reverse-psycology ploy. They really are desperate! I’ll bet his middle-school girlfriend gave him the idea.

Man, I gotta get back RR library.

What an awesome day.

My friend, who is a devout Democrat took me there for my birthday a few years back.

I had the best time and spent the entire day going everywhere, slowly as I considered history.

Waited til the end of the day before I made it his grave.

Cried like a baby.

One of my best days evuh!

“That does not give me, you or anyone else the right to trash him or his family. Nor does it give us the right to tell outright lies”

But does THAT give US the right to trash Obama when HE tells outright lies?

Yep. Working vacations as well. Same for most of his vacations, in fact. Another thing the left tend to gloss over.

And those were played in his first 3 years. He stopped playing in 2003 … said it didn't send a good message to parents of soldiers overseas. The guy has class. Obama obviously does not.

Get a life, Featherman.

And while you’re searching, find a good replacement brain, will you?

Your president has NEVER held a real job until the presidency, and he’s shown his complete and utter incompetence with that one.

Your Obama is an incompetent fool.

That’s incompetent.

And fool.

In a report released over the weekend by the Associated Press, Obama had taken 138 vacation days, compared to 381 for George W. Bush...

It only seemed like 381 days to the AP reporters, as they did not care for the surroundings in the area of greater Crawford, Texas. The actual number of vacation days for GWB was probably closer to 100, but the number becomes inflated because, well...time flies when you're having fun in the Hamptons or the Vineyard, and it crawls by very slowly when you're "stuck" in Central Texas.

It’s a total lie that the author of this did NOT vote for Obama. You know he did. Both times. Probably more than once each time. What a whining liar!

Generally when Bush was on ‘vacation’ he was at his home in Texas where he could get more work done than at the White House. Bush wasn’t at resorts.

That said, I believe attacks on Obama’s wife and children cross the line. The left attacked Nancy when Reagan was President - and Barbara Bush when George the father was President. It came across as tacky.

John Featherman is a libertarian liberal who runs for office as a Republican, against more conservative candidates.

“He has sought election as a Libertarian and a Republican for several posts over nearly two decades, including for Congress, twice for Senate, once for the now-defunct Philadelphia Clerk of Quarter Sessions and most recently for Philadelphia mayor.

“He has described himself as “fiscally very conservative and socially inclusive,” and has expressed support for gay marriage, abortion rights and marijuana decriminalization.”

He’s got a point. Same goes for making fun of his wife’s figure or calling her “Moo-chelle”. The issues are not enough. It has to be personal and childish.

So we lower ourselves to the level of the left and make ourselves smaller while doing little to persuade the public.

Here, here! Well said.

I am so glad to see grown-up conservatives still exist.
