PICKERINGTON, Ohio - Students at Pickerington Local Schools head back to class Thursday after someone phoned in a violent threat.
Pickerington North High School was put on lockdown on Wednesday.
Detectives tell 10TV the call was made via cell phone, but were not able to locate the person who made the call.
Deputies say a man with a thick Arabic accident called Pickerington North High School claiming he was coming to the school with an assault rifle to commit violence because of unrest in the Middle East.
The school then went into immediate lockdown and parents rushed to the school to make sure their kids were safe. The school held a controlled release of students beginning at 1:55 p.m. and the Fairfield County Sheriff's deputies were on hand to escort the students from the building.
My son texted me they were on lockdown in the gym and hes afraid, said concerned parent Nicole McNair.
Students huddled in their classrooms not knowing what the lockdown was about. We were in the dark. They said it was an outside, controlled situation, explained student Grace Alexson. She says when the lock down was announced students began to prepare. "Some of us barricaded our doors because we heard lockdown and it wasnt a drill. We just got away from all the doors, locked the doors and stayed behind objects.
Students texted their parents with constant updates on their safety. (My daughter) said they just started shoving them in the classrooms, turning off lights. They put the girls behind tables and gave the boys' 2 x 4s and metal rods, said parent Jessica Faryman.
Deputies outside worked to make sure the caller never carried out his threat. He had told the school he lives in the area.
The district says it's trained students on how to react during an active shooter scenario, and today they say their training paid off.
It's still unclear who made the call or where it came from.
Deputies were patrolling the school grounds Thursday to make sure the students were safe.
At 11:15 a.m., a man with a heavy accent called the school, saying he was going to shoot Pickerington North students with an AK-47 because of attacks on Israel, Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen said.
The man identified himself as Mohammed Shehad or something that sounded like that, but it was difficult to understand, Phalen said.
The nature of the threat was not typical, he said.

Used to live there many years ago... unreal.
Mohammed Shehad.. sounds a lot likw Mohammed Shithead
Likely a faked threat, in my opinion. However, once again, when authorities want a school to be as safe as possible, men with guns show up and convert the ‘gun free zone’ into a truly safe location.
Very good point!
i have one daughter left in public school, im always thinking of how i can afford to take her out and home school her the rest of the way! i hate it that i can’t right now! not only the indoctrination going on, but the BS like this that just keeps on coming and will never end...she is totally against it though i mite add, but she will get over it eventually or hate me for it...tough decisions FOR ME anyway

” ... on lockdown in the gym”
Good tactic to concentrate the most vulnerable, undefended targets.
Locked doors keep out the honest, NOT the determined and the brutal.
A little note to all Schools ... If they come, they will not call ahead ... Arm Up and Be Prepared!
Yes. Think of all the time and effort the attackers at Beslan would have saved rounding up the kids and herding them to the gym if the staff did it for them!
My son is in middle school and they have taught them to first flee. If that is not possible they are to barricade themselves in a room. If the attacker breeches the door all of the students are to grab the heaviest thing they can and throw/hit the guy with it.
It sounds like that is what they were preparing here with the boys having rods and 2X4s.
The was a test of the national jihad system to determine your level of response...inshallah!
Heh heh heh...

Lived there for many years in the Huntington Hills subdivision. Left after graduating from HS in 83 to join the Army.
Beautiful place when I lived there. It’s not the same now as it’s been heavily developed.
