Once he came up with the story about rescuing someone drowning in a pool, he faced the uncomfortable problem of having to produce the person he allegedly rescued. Getting the second person involved made everything more complicated.

He should have learned a lesson from the Major League Baseball player a few years ago who injured his shoulder during the off-season. He reported to the team that he fell down the stairs at his house. The suspicion -- based on stories from his neighbors -- was that he crashed while doing wheelies on a motorcycle in their suburban neighborhood. If he had been injured in a motorcycle accident then his contract would have been voided, so he had to make up another story. I don't remember how that one ended. LOL.

Yes perhaps Mr. Shaw should have blamed it on the dog. At least the dog can't talk. I swear when I heard the story, in my head I was thinking sounds like a burglary gone wrong. Call me cynical.

Comes to mind BJ Clinton's story of falling down stairs and breaking his leg.

Also, there was the pretzel incident of George W. Bush.

Sometimes, it is almost amazing what PR personnel try to get the American public to believe.
