There have numerous articles written lately by libertarian (and some conservative) writers wailing about overarmed police. While I'm against the police having more firepower than necessary, I've never seen these "militarized" police where I live.... a metro population of over 100,000.

So where are people seeing these militarized police? Is it around crime-ridden big cities, or is it everywhere? I tend to think the worries about militarized police are a tad exaggerated by the usual anti-police people. In a huge, metropolitan area with a lot of people who are barely civilized, I would hope the cops have enough firepower when things get rough. Which may come sooner than people think.

The problem in the Ferguson situation is not that the police were overarmed, it was that the police had the firepower necessary to stop the rioting and looting and failed to do so

The Mayor of Ferguson MO was on FNC’s Kelly File, responding to a lawsuit some illiterates have filed against his city for the use of teargas, armored vehicles, etc., against the looters. .......He very clearly said it was not the city’s police that did any of that. That means it must have been the State LEOs or LEOs from St. Louis County.
