Its all about getting cops used to looking at the Subjects (previously Citizens) through gunsights.
And also in getting those Subjects used to being pushed back by armed Government Agents.
One day, the EBT cards will fail to work and the gibsmedats will come out for “what dey owe me”. The wealthy will retreat behind their walls and the middle class will be told to report to work anyway (unarmed, of course) since the economy still has to function and the S will have officially HTF.

The same people who complain about LE using advanced equipment will be the same ones who would complain if THEIR home was being attacked and the LE DIDN’T USE their advanced equipment.
We all SAW the equipment used in Ferguson. How many looters/rioters/protesters/marchers/thugs/rapists/murderers were actually KILLED during that incident ?

The problem is the sequencing of events. From Rodney King, to Katrina, to Ferguson, the black reaction is predictable: I’m a victim, so I can destroy, loot, and steal and no one will do a damn thing about it. Alas, a peaceful protest doesn’t have a chance against this predictable backdrop.
The answer is to take the photos and video footage available, and there’s plenty of it, and start issuing arrest warrants and enforce the law. Only then are you going to break this cycle.

the police force in Ferguson unveiled an array of weaponry, including Mine Resistant Ambush Protectant Vehicles, which are heavily armed trucksMy understanding is that this is wildly inaccurate. These vehicles, when in police force, usually if not always, have the mounted armament removed.
Thus they aren't heavily armed vehicles, but heavily armored vehicles, a quite different batch of fish.

An even better question is how many could have been justifiably killed and weren’t?
The LRAD sound device the police used on top of those Bearcats kept the rioters far enough away where they could not effectively toss the molotov cocktails they had.
That and liberal use of CS tear gas.

...in the aftermath of the shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager soon to begin the fall term at Vatterott College...
Number of times Google finds words "unarmed black teenager": 671,000
Number of times Google finds words "unarmed teenager": 397,000.

On the other end of the political spectrum, a study by the American Civil Liberties Union entitled “War Comes Home: The Excessive Militarization of American Policing” concluded, “American policing has become unnecessarily and dangerously militarized, in large part through federal programs that have armed state and local law enforcement agencies with the weapons and tactics of war, with almost no public discussion or oversight.” Well, well, well. It seems the many liberaltarians here at FR and the ACLU have a lot in common. No real surprise. Both groups are liberals.

Yep.
All the libs complaining about the militarization of police had little to say about the success of the Ferguson PD.
All they could really do was post more ‘cop shoots dog’ threads.

The MSM repeats the lie again and again knowing that pretty soon - a lie becomes the truth. But the truth is - St. Swisher was armed.
When two individuals are fighting to get a weapon BOTH are deemed to be in possession of the weapon. Hence, Brown was ARMED.

It should not be said that the sight of rank-and-file police officers in combat gear is a sign of our times.
Well they didn't show up in combat gear till the animals went on a rampage.

And more than that - the Ferguson PD with their military gear did contain the ferals.
It wasn't until Holder got involved and Captain Ron Johnson and the National Guard took over - and removed the tanks and tear gas and freely allowed the rioters to loot and burn - that things got worse.
Here's the good Captain now - marching WITH the rioters and looters in Ferguson.
more.

I happen to have found it chilling, which, I suppose, puts it mildly. Perhaps there is a compelling reason for police departments to possess, for example, grenade launchers but, to be honest, I cannot think of one that would provide me with comfort not the events of 9/11 or a desire to see our crime rate dramatically reduced.[4] You never know when you will come on a really dangerous situation like this one.

For what its worth, I do have a problem with over militarized police as well but it WAS NOT the issue in Ferguson. In this case its a distraction.
