Direct sunlight feels extremely hot this summer

I've noticed that too.

However, anything out of NASA on the subject is probably related more to budget concerns than any intentional real science.

Yup. The sun when there are no clouds is supposed to feel warm in the summer, but this summer it’s been different. It feels magnified, like the way a window will magnify the heat of sunlight coming through it. Like I said, even on a 70 degree day, it’s becoming intolerable to walk more than a few blocks in direct sunlight.
